It's free period and I've found myself in the library. I open my laptop and open my emails. I check if I have anything important coming up that I may have forgotten about, but thankfully found nothing.
This week has been boring for the most part. Nothing exciting going on or anything crazy happening, the only exciting thing that has happened was bowling on Tuesday. Oh! My mom not freaking out about Harry and I was interesting. She actually likes him and she's glad I'm focused on someone "other than myself."
Her words, not mine.
Speaking of Harry, he and I have been good. Great actually, if I'm being brutally honest. He still hasn't asked me to officially be his girlfriend but I don't need the label to know what we have is genuine. Being exclusive would be nice so these other hoes can leave him alone, but he can't help being so charming.
Dude, homecoming is in a week and you don't have a dress.
HOMECOMING!!!
I totally forgot I was even going to that! I've been so busy with school and planning the damn thing, I forgot about getting a dress and stuff. I wonder what the girls are up to after school.
The bell rings and the period ends. I grab all of my things and leave the library. I stop at my locker to put my stuff up before heading to the cafeteria.
Once I get to the cafeteria I sit at our table. Chanel, Dani, Danielle, and Charlie are all already sitting and chatting. I sit down and they direct their attention to me.
"Hey, Mel! Are you excited about Hoco next week! I bet you have already planned everything to be perfect." Dani said and they all nod in agreement
"Actually, I have nothing planned for myself. The dance will be great but, I'm screwed." I say and they all gasp
"MELODY! You're on the homecoming committee! How could you forget about you and Harry's first school function as an almost couple?!!" Danielle ask practically screaming at me
"I didn't forget! I just..didn't... think.. about it." I say I slouch further into my seat in shame
"Well, now we all have plans after school!" Channel says and I look at her
"Wha-"
"SHOPPING!!" Dani, Danielle, and Channel scream
I look at Charlie who is looking at me
"Are these your friends?" I ask and she laughs
"Yea they are, and they're yours too." She says and I sigh
AFTER SCHOOL
The bell rings releasing us from this prison. I grab my things and leave the classroom. I walk to my locker and place everything I don't need inside. I grab the few things I do need and shut my locker where I'm met by Harry, Dani, and Channel on the other side.
"Hey gorgeous," Harry says placing his lips on mine
"Hi handsome," I say wiping the lipstick off of him as we pull apart
"Want to go get food?" He asks and I sigh
"I wish I could but I have other things to attend to," I say and he squints his eyes
"What'd you do?" He asks and I scoff
"Me? Really? I didn't do anything."
"Don't start this almost relationship by lying" Channel says
I give her a death glare before looking back at Harry who was waiting for me to tell him what I did. Or I guess in this case, what I didn't do.
"Okay. Don't get mad. But, I may have forgotten to get literally anything for Homecoming." I say waiting for his reaction
"Really?! How could you! I can't believe you would do this!" He yells causing people to look over at us
"Harry! What the fuck? I said don't get mad!" I say slightly raising my voice at him
He starts to laugh which makes me realize he was only joking, causing me to hit him.
"Not cool!" I say crossing my arms
"I was giving you the reaction you were expecting. How could I be mad at someone as beautiful as you blessing me with your presence." He says wrapping his arms around me and giving the top of my head a kiss
"Can y'all stop being so cute for like five minutes please?¨ Dani says causing us all to laugh
"Did you at least get your tux and stuff?" I ask
"Me? Oh, I have everything planned. I'm gonna be at your house at 7, we're meeting up with the squad to go get food before, then go to homecoming, we get crowned king and queen, and then the after-party at Derek's." He says and I raise my eyebrows
"I'm sorry what? King and Queen? Yea no that has always been Channels thing." I say and she shakes her head in disagreement
"Yea ever since you and Harry have been the talk of the school everyone's been naming you guys King and Queen." She tells me
"Yea we all know it'll be the first time Harry will win and actually want to dance with the Queen," Dani adds
"Ugh! Now I have to practice how not to cry because if we win and we dance, I'm gonna cry! See, we're not even official yet and I'm already emotional." I say placing my head on his chest
"You'll be fine. Now go get a dress and all that before you forget." He says leaning down to kiss me
As I lean up to kiss him, Channel grabs my hand and pulls me away.
"Oh no she's not forgetting!"
I give him a quick peck before going with Channel and Dani to my car as we head to the mall.
30 MINUTES LATER
We've been in this store for a least 15 minutes and I seriously want to give up on looking for a dress.
"Melody come on! Let's see." I hear Dani say
I move the curtain that is separating us and walk out of the dressing room. I am wearing a long snug black mermaid dress. It has lace at the top and it's long-sleeved. It was hot.
"That is way too sexy for a school dance," Danielle says and they nod in agreement
"Yea but I'm definitely going to be getting it. It is way too hot to pass up and who knows when I might be going to a classy all-black party." I say and walk back into the dressing room
I try on about 3 more dresses before putting on a silky red dress. It is long and strings are the only thing keeping it up. It's not too sexy but it shows my curves. I step out of the dressing room and immediately all the girls gasp.
"Mel, you look stunning," Channel says
"I think this is your dress," Dani said as I turn around to look in the bigger mirror
"What do you think?" Danielle ask
"I think-" I pause "We can finally go get food because I've picked a dress!" I say and they all squeal
"Yay I'm so excited! Now we still have to get you shoes, accessories, and an after-party outfit but we can do that after we get food." Channel says and we all nod in agreement
I walk back into the dressing room and put back on my clothes. After I grab my two dresses and my purse, I walk out of the dressing room and go up to the register.
This is going to be the best homecoming yet. I can feel it.
