Dib greeted his father, who was making toast for himself in the kitchen and was surprisingly not in his lab as usual, with a rushed hello as he darted to his bedroom.
Opening up the door, he took notice that Gaz had picked up his dirty clothes to put in the laundry. They were now stacked on his bed very messily. Laundry was a chore that Gaz got paid to do- she didn't get payed much, but she didn't wanna actually go out and find a job yet. She was younger than Dib, and was waiting until she hit the age of 17 to actually work. Currently she worked around the house when Membrane was too busy in his laboratory. She only agreed to do this for the money.
Dib on the other hand was turning 18 very soon and hasn't bothered to get a job yet. Until now, at least. He was always too caught up with Zim to even think about earning money.Dib shut the door behind him and began putting back his freshly washed clothes, hanging them in his closet. When he finished, he realized there was a shirt hiding next to his bed, almost hidden by the blankets that messily hanged off of his bed since Dib always waits till he gets home to actually make his bed.
When he picked it up, he realized the shirt was in fact not cleaned. Maybe Gaz didn't see it?
He was about to put it in the washing machine, until he saw it.
His journal.
He completely forgot he had left it there- he remember the last time he wrote in it, he had broke down and scribbled in whatever he was feeling. While ranting to his journal he was crying, not caring wether the tears fell on his writing and smudged the ink.
Dib cringed and looked away in embarrassment. His face heated up.
He hoped no one saw it; although of course the only people who could've were his dad and Gaz, and his dad doesn't even enter his room anyway.
He picked up the journal."I guess I won't be needing you anymore"
He walked over to his desk and tucked the journal neatly into one of the book shelves, thinking about how he's going to try to be more productive. Maybe he can meet new people...? He wasn't very keen on that thought- everyone wasn't very...how do you say this...smart? The kids at school are still as brain dead as they were in elementary and middle school. Of course they did mature, but they still seemed to act the same way most of the time. I guess some things never change.

"Dib-stink!"
Dib turned around briskly, knowing exactly who's voice that was coming from. He held onto his backpack straps tightly.
The green alien (in disguise- he had thrown away the dirty wig and contacts and currently wore new ones) waved at him from afar. Zim picked up his pace to catch up with the human.
Dib cocked an eyebrow in confusion. What is Zim in such a hurry about?
Zim made it to where the human was standing and placed his hands on his hips and closed his eyes with a look of determination, "SO EARTHLING- I have decided to walk with you"
Dib scrunched up his eyebrows, "why?"
Zim opened one of his eyes, looking offended with the reaction he had gotten, "HOW DARE YOU ASK WHY. Zim has given you the chance to walk with him!"
Dib rolled his eyes and shrugged, "as long as you're not planning anything I'm fine with you walking with me"
The alien smiled satisfyingly. They walked down the path to their hi-skool, chatting while they did so.
"-I had to clean up his mess!! So dirty and sticky! Cheese everywhere, Dib! EVERYWHERE." Zim yelled with disgust, ranting about how disgustingly dirty Gir had left the house while Zim was away the other day.
Dib laughed at the thought of Zim cleaning the house with a disgusted look on his face. He was probably fuming with how mad he was!
"How did you even manage to get all the cheese out?"Zim shuddered thinking back about it, obviously having to have gone through a hard time cleaning off the gooey cheese.
"Zim doesn't wanna talk about it""Was it that bad? Gir seems kinda scary to be completely honest" Dib curiously asked and stepped into the School's gates alongside Zim. Students were crowding the entrance of the building, so they waiting outside in the front yard of the school.
"NO NOTHING SCARES ZIM! Gir is just... weird. I don't know how he can survive being alone at home while I'm at skool. He'll probably end up killing himself someday accidentally"
Dib was enjoying the dumb conversation (to his surprise) and was gonna respond to Zim's ranting, but the bell for first period rang.
"Oh well, time for class" Dib sighed with disappointment. He really didn't have the energy for class- he was awake all night reading sci-fi comics. His interest in paranormal has never left him- he still acted somewhat like a child, but he has become mature in many ways.
Zim groaned, "I don't like the class I have to go to! Everyone is so annoying and loud and Zim has trouble listening to the teacher!"
Dib beamed in surprise. Zim listens to the teacher??
"What?? You listen to the teacher? I'm surprised, Zim"Zim's face went into a fleeting expression of shock and then became irritated, "No!!! The teacher is dumb as well! Zim just doesn't like the noisy class."
Dib gave a teasing smile and rolled his eyes in a joking matter, "alright whatever you say I guess. Well we better get to class. Maybe we can... hang out during lunch...?" Dib asked hesitantly, not sure if Zim will agree- he didn't wanna get embarrassed from rejection.
Zim hid a smile, and nodded, "okay. Zim will accompany you to lunch then!"
Dib smiled in surprise, "oh! Really? Okay, cool. Well we should start going now, the late bell is about to ring real soon. Bye Zim!"
The human began walking away and turned around to wave at Zim, who returned the wave, "Bye, Dib-worm!"[word count: 1,048
