Dib stuffed the money he's planning on paying with for the movie into his back pocket. He had the movie in mind to watch, since Zim had insisted Dib would be the one to choose. Dib thought back to the trailer, wondering if the alien would enjoy the movie. Nervously Dib began biting the inside of his mouth, chewing on his cheek. What if Zim ends up thinking the night is lame? That the movie was dumb and Dib has a bad taste?
A small sigh escaped Dib's lips. No, he can't be thinking negatively- this will be fun! It's a chance to get Zim closer- as a friend! Yeah, maybe they can become better friends...? Well, they've barely started getting closer. Funny that after years of being enemies and fighting, they became friends so easily. Dib hummed at the thought, finding it pretty amusing. Who knew they would become friends?

Dib took one last look in the mirror as he made his way out, brushing his fingers through his hair.
He didn't need to ask his dad for permission to go out, the guy is way too busy with work to notice that his son had left the house.

"Hey, where are you going?"

Dib flinched in surprise from his name being called and he looked over to who spoke to him, which was his younger sister. Gaz raised an eyebrow at him, looking annoyed but also curious.

"I'm going out- I'm watching a movie with Zim"

Gaz lifted her eyebrows in sudden surprise, remembering about the journal she found in Dib's room. She stared at him hard, feeling unsure, but then shot him with her usual annoyed expression, "what? You guys dating now? Wow, my brother dating his enemy"
This raised heat to Dib's face, and he shook his hands in a disagreeing manner, "no! It's not like that, Gaz. We're just friends now, I guess??"

Gaz gave him unamused sigh, obviously not convinced and feeling a little suspicious. She then shrugged, making her way towards the kitchen to get herself a snack, "whatever."

Dib felt a surge of annoyance thinking about the conversation he had with his sister, his eyebrows furrowing unconsciously from irritation. He grunted in thought. Him and Zim aren't dating! They're just friends. Gaz is just nosy...why would she think they're dating? Because they're going to watch a movie? Don't regular friends do that?

Dib didn't even realize he was already standing right in front of Zim's front yard until he heard the door of the house open and then close. He looked up, wondering how the hell he managed to space out so much, and was faced with Zim's smile.
Dib looked away for a second, feeling weird about the situation after having that talk with Gaz.
He especially felt weird because Zim was smiling at him, knowing that they were going out.
It felt weird because Dib liked it.

"Hey, Dib! Sorry I took a while, Gir WOULDNT SHUT UP about me going out with you and I HAD to explain that we are FRIENDS", Zim stated as he rushed over to the human, stopping in front of him and glaring over at the house in front of the two.

"It's fine, I honestly didn't even notice I was here because I spaced out a fuck ton." Dib said casually with a small shrug.
Zim smiled and stood up straight, "good! Now, let's hurry or else Gir will try to come along and ruin our plans."
Dib nodded and they began walking in silence. It was comforting in a way, but Dib's anxiety soon made it feel awkward and quiet suffocating for him.
Clearing his throat, Dib decided to spark a conversation.
"So...you've ever been to a movie theatre? Since you're an alien and all..?"

Dib glanced at Zim nervously, who was staring ahead and seemed to be in thought, "hm no, but I've seen one before while me and Gir walked around the town. Never been inside, though. I've heard it's fun and Zim likes fun"
Dib snorted at the thought of Zim and Gir waking around town, they probably looked so out of place. Then again, the town is dumb and no one ever seems to notice how different Zim and his robot look from humans.
"What are you laughing at? Did I say something funny?"
Dib didn't notice he started giggling, but he was. Zim was utterly confused and looked somewhat self conscious, seeming to be shrinking in on himself a little. Dib noticed this and shook his head, "no, no, sorry. I just- I find it funny how you have to "walk your dog" Yknow? He's a robot. You two have awful disguises, Zim. I don't know how no one else has noticed that you two aren't actual earth beings"

Zim gasped in shock, "my costume is not "awful"! Everyone thinks I am an earth worm! I pass very well, Dib stink. I'm surprised YOU noticed I'm not a human!"
Dib rolled his eyes playfully, "whatever you say, Zim"

Zim glared at Dib and huffed, "that's right. Whatever I say is right. You just admitted it!!"
Dib rolled his eyes again, finding it painful how Zim totally missed the sarcasm. He decided not to argue back, but instead amuse himself by messing around a little with the alien.
He smugly smiled, trying to hide a little laugh and gently shoved Zim, "whatever, shorty"

"I AM NOT SHORT- I AM A GOOD IRKEN SIZE!!!" Zim yelled, stopping on his tracks for a dramatic effect and pointed at himself.
Dib decided to not push it further, a small hint of fear that he will actually make Zim furious hitting him.
"You're right, sorry Zim. And even if you are shorter than most humans, I think it suits you"
Zim's angry expression soothed down into a dumbfounded one, then slowly a smile crept on his lips, as well as a small blush which made the alien grateful it was dark out so Dib wouldn't notice, "ah...thank you, Dib- I...like hearing that much better"
Dib was going to answer, but his mouth became dry from nervousness. Fuck. He ignored the way his stomach made a slight flip, how he could feel his heart pace quicken just the smallest.
"...yeah" he weakly said.
