CLEANING UP YOUR MESS

"I think we all know why we're here," Ben's father starts "The people are in a panic about Hades. He almost got out," Ben lets out a small laugh and Rain holds back on rolling her eyes.

"Who knows what he would've done if he had escaped?" Fairy Godmother says softly

"We can't risk having another villain on the loose,"

"I really feel like this is my fault. I'm supposed to protect Auradon," Mal pipes up, she was only present as she was named 'The Protector of Auradon' but honestly, Rain wondered why Evie wasn't there. She was in charge of the Isle kids.

"You did, you do protect Auradon," Ben reminds Mal from his spot next to Rain.

"Every time we open the barrier, we're exposed to danger: Maleficent, Uma, Hades," Adam lists off. Rain hides a smirk at how awkward it was, considering how it was Mal's parents and Rain's ex who have broken through. Not that Mal would ever admit to Hades being in any way related to her.

Ben's phone rings and he places his hand on Rain's arm before walking away slightly to answer it. Once he's done, he turns back to the group.

"Maleficent's sceptre and the queen's crown have been stolen,"

"Uma?" Beast half accuses and Rain rolls her eyes.

"We don't know that, Dad,"

"Ben's right, that's extremely unlikely," the older adults look shocked and Rain shrugs. She'd had some time to think and try and understand Uma, and she felt less of a hatred now. Although, she was sure Uma despised her, so she was reminded of that every now and then.

"When the people hear this, they will never wanna leave their houses. What do we tell them? Rain? Mal? What do we do? How do we keep evil out of Auradon?" Before Mal can even respond to Belle, Rain lets out a loud laugh.

"Oh no no no. No!" she starts "This is all your fault. Well, more his than yours" She gestures to Adam "you thought, 'oh look, let's put loads of Villains on an Island and basically abandon them, not start trying to make them better'," Adam goes to interrupt, but Ben gives him a look that tells him to back off.

"By the way. Some of them have gotten better. You didn't think what would happen when they reproduce. You just thought 'as long as we're all fine, it's cool'. Tell you what, it wasn't cool. Life over there is hard. And now you want someone who was raised there. To help you?! I am not the older adult in the room who made the mess! We..." she gestures to her Ben and Mal "Shouldn't be cleaning up your mess. But we are, so don't act all high and mighty. You being scared. Is your fault," She finally lets air into her lungs and Ben goes to stand in front of her, grabbing her hands and forcing her to look up into his eyes "I'm not backing down,"

Ben nods "I know, and you shouldn't have to, just breathe for me," Rain follows his instructions until Mal speaks

"I think that there's only... one way to guarantee Auradon's safety," Rain lets go of Ben's hands and step out in front of him to point at Mal "I can't believe what you're about to say,"

"Rain..." she tries to stop her

"No, No! I know what your suggesting!" Rain starts to leave, but then turns back to Fairy Godmother, Belle and Adam "and I bet you're all going to agree to this,"

"Rain!" Ben grabs her arm and she looks up at him, her eyes more blue than green.

"I can't be here with them. I really am trying not to kill your father right now. Sorry," she then storms out and grabs her bike helmet.

Rain marches into Evie's designing room, her helmet discarded by the front door.

"You okay?" Evie twirls around on her stool and Rain shakes her head, feeling the tears start to come up. Evie quickly stands up and wraps her arms around her best friend.

Rain cries into her shoulder for a few minutes, her body shaking. Evie rubs her back and leads Rain over to a stool, sitting on the one opposite "What happened?"

"The Queens crown and Mal's mum's sceptre have been stolen from the museum," Rain sniffs, obviously not upset about that, but something else.

"Who else knows?" Evie asks in shock

"Ben - Obviously, his parents, Fairy Godmother and Mal" Rain mutters as she puts her head in her hands "I mean, think about it, people are scared enough as it is. We have to employ these entirely new security measures. Just because of Uma and Hades. Why didn't they think about any of this when Beast booted all our parents to the Isle?" Evie puts her hand on Rain's shoulder

"I know. Will this delay us bringing over more V.K.'s?"

"They were..." Rain wanted to say 'Mal was', but the words don't come out "They were talking about closing the barrier for good,"

"But you said no right?"

"Of course, I did!"

"I mean, the four of us are living the dream here, and we finally get to share that. I mean, what could be more important than that?" There's no response "Rain, were they seriously thinking that no one will ever go in or out of the Isle ever again? What, we never get to go back and see our parents?"

"Would any of us actually want to?" Rain asks her "They did basically abuse us. Actually, pretty sure it was just abuse," Evie nods slightly

"Okay, maybe that wasn't a good reason but, what about these kids? We promised them that they could go back and visit whenever they wanted,"

"I don't know what they're doing. I had to leave before I killed someone. Beast and Belle shouldn't have been there. It should have been, you me, Ben, and Mal. Maybe Fairy Godmother. But they shouldn't have been there," Evie stands up and holds Rain's face in her hands, wiping away some tears.

"R, I am so glad that you are going to be Queen. You will be a part of these conversations, you're passionate, don't back down and you'll stand up for the V.K.s. Thank you for telling me. You're gonna be a great Queen,"

"I hope so," Rain mutters and Evie turns to pick up a sparkly red fabric.

"Now let's start on what you're wearing tomorrow, a swimsuit is necessary. But you don't want it too revealing. You're an engaged woman!" Rain laughs and wipes away her tears, smiling at Evie as she rushes around the room, grabbing things.
