Chapter 14

Muhlach's Residence

It's a cold afternoon and as much as Hope wants to sleep in a secreted dark and dim surroundings with that earthly smell of the rain, she couldn't. She has a lot on her table to review, for their first term examination is fast approaching. There are also these researches she needed to finish. She sighed at the thought. Senior High is really adding wrinkles on her forehead.

She was just listening to her music list while finalizing her research. She has to finish it tonight so she can rest and get up early tomorrow for more time to review. Nana knocked before opening the door in her room "Eto na ang gatas mo anak. Inumin mo kaagad ha, habang mainit pa nang makatulog ka nang mahimbing." she said as she placed it on top of her bedside table.

Hope looked at her and smiled "Sure Nana. Thank you." she said before she faced her laptop again. Nana tapped her shoulder "Ilang araw ka nang napupuyat diyan sa research mo na 'yan. Baka inaabuso mo na sarili mo. Pagpahingahin mo din yang mata mo naku lumalabo na." she joked before she left. Hope just laughed at her.

Almost thirty minutes had passed and she's done. She checked the time and it shows nine thirty in the evening. She drank water after she finished her milk then tucked herself to sleep.

Hope woke up by the ray of sunlight coming in from her window. She forgot to close it last night since it's a bit ajar. She sat down and looked outside their garden. It's a sunny day today, so fast, she wondered. She uttered a short prayer before she fixed herself and went downstairs. She was humming while heading into the kitchen. Nana is already done cooking for breakfast.

"Mukhang ang saya ng gising mo ah! Nakatulog ka naman ng maayos?" Nana asked. Hope saw her Nana saying something so she took off her earphones "Sorry Nana, ano po?" she asked.

"Ay naku nag-mu-music ka pala di ko napansin. Kako eh maayos naman ba ang tulog mo?" she repeated. Hope nodded and sat on her chair "Yes po Nana. Salamat sa mahiwagang gatas!" she praised jokingly. Nana laughed so she did. Laughters and jokes filled the dining area as they start eating breakfast.

Hope stood up to wash her plates and mug when Nana stopped her "Oops... Ako na diyan. Sige na, umakyat ka na at nang makapag-review ka na." she said while taking the plates on Hope's hands. Hope nodded and didn't argue as she really needed to start reviewing especially in mathematics. She admits that she's not really good in it though she never failed any examinations not even quizzes. She's lucky enough, she always say.

'Isang kilalang siyudad sa Europa ang tinupok ng apoy noong nakaraang linggo at patuloy pa ring inaapula ang ilang bahagi ng kastilyo na nasunog. Hinihinalang kagagawan ito ng isa sa kanilang katunggali sa trono, ani ng isa sa hindi nagpakilalang persona. Maraming buhay ang nasawi sa nasabing insidente. Sa kasalukuyan, nananatili namang ligtas ang pinuno ng palasyo kasama ang ama nito. Patuloy pa ring inaalam ng taong bayan sa nasabing lugar kung nasaan na nga ba ang prinsesa at ang anak nito.

Manatiling nakatutok sa mga nagbabagang balita, sa susunod na linggo. Dito lamang 'yan-----'

"Ano po yun Na?" Hope asked.

"Ay, susmaryosep!!" Nana blurted out in shock. Hope controlled herself to laugh at her Nana's reaction. "Ano ba yan Hope! Bigla bigla ka na lang sumusulpot. Di kita naramdaman ah." Nana said while wiping her hands. She just finished the dishes when the news caught her attention.

"Sorry na." Hope said smiling.

"May kailangan ka ba?" Nana asked.

"Ah, opo. I almost forgot. Have you seen my necklace? Di ko po kasi makita sa jewelry box ko." Hope asked as she walks around the area to look for it.
