The sun is a daily reminder that we too can rise again from the darkness, that we too can shine
our own light.

*RING*
The bell went off singling that it was time to go home. I heard some of my classmates sigh in relief, one cheered, while I just chuckled. I packed my stuff and walked out. I heard my teacher- Mrs. Haller- say something about the worksheet, probably to finish it and turn it in tomorrow, I already finished and turned it in.
"Sam" I heard my friend Izzy yell, bringing me out of my thoughts. I didn't realize that I was already outside on one of the branches one of the trees my school was nestled into. She was standing on a adjacent branch to me with my other friends Thelma, Lizzy, and Jordan.
I'm Samantha Light -Sam for short- and I'm a Pygmy Forest Alicorn. Every alicorn in Butterfly Forest is. Most animals in the forest are relatively small. The biggest animals are really the normal horses that roam the forest floor.
"Sam" Izzy yelled again.
"Huh. Oh sorry" I said shaking my head.
"You alright Sam" Jordan asked.
"Yeah, I just spaced out for a bit sorry" I told her.
"We were gonna go to the Glass Lagoon if you wanna join us" Thelma spoke. She's kinda the quiet one of the group.
"Yeah sure, why not" I said shrugging my wings. We leaned over the edge of the branch and pushed off spreading our wings, taking to the air. It didn't take to long to get to the lagoon, givin' that it was a good thirty-ish minute flight normally. We landed about seven to eight feet from the waters edge. I lifted my school saddle bag off my back with my magic and put it next to a big boulder, to make sure nothing inside got wet. The others did the same before Lizzy, the somewhat clown of the of the group, galloped to the water.
"Last one in is a rotten bird egg" She yelled over her shoulder. The rest of us cantered after her. The four of us jumped into the crystal clear water at the same time, right after Lizzy. We wasted probably about thirty minutes just splashing each other in the water. After a bit me and Thelma got out and layed down on the shore. I grabbed the book I was reading while Thelma got a paper out of her bag. I saw it was a worksheet for one of her AP classes. Liz, Iz, and J started lounging in the shallows near us.
I was focused on my book when I heard J scream. My head snapped up to see her being dragged toward the dark trench in the lagoon, nobody ever went there.
"Jordan" We all screamed. Lizzy and Izzy ran to her only to get pushed back by something in the water. They washed onto the shore next to Thelma, who sat there frozen in fear. I rocketed to my hoofs and everything went black.
Third
Samanthas' bright green eyes started to glow bright white. Her whole body glowed like a firefly. The three fillies used their wings to shield their eyes from the blinding light. Rays of light acted like arms to lift Jordan free and destroy the creatures of darkness that grabbed her. The filly was gently placed on her hoofs next to her friends. The light from her body faded and her eyes soon followed, but when Samanthas' eyes changed back she collapsed on the forest floor unconscious.
