Part 18

Raj who had gone out returned home. He went to Nyonika and saw her with Nandini. Nyonika didn't talk to him. Raj came to know that she was upset with him, but he didn't know why. He didn't ask her about it in front of Nandini. Raj spoke to Nandini and came to know that she was in Mumbai for studies.

        Raj : "Which college are you studying in?"

        Nyonika : "Why are you pretending as though you don't know?"

        Raj : "I didn't get it. How am I to know?"

        Nyonika : "Who approves scholarship in S.P.A.C.E?"

        Raj : "I do."

        Nyonika : "Then you would know. Both dad and son are of the same type. Both knew she was here, but didn't tell me."

        Only then did Raj realize why Nyonika was upset with him.

        Raj : "I really didn't know she was here. I might not have paid much attention while signing the scholarship papers. I had no idea she was coming to Mumbai for her studies."

        Nyonika wasn't convinced because she still felt that Raj didn't bother to inform her though he knew, and he was trying to cover it up now. Nyonika hadn't talked to Manik about Nandini, except for telling him that she had saved her. However, she had mentioned about Nandini a few times to Raj. Raj didn't know why she was so fond of Nandini earlier, but now he knew.

        Nandini : "Aunty, please let it go. As I said earlier, I have been going to college for quite sometime now and I met your son a few times too, but I didn't know he was the lead singer of Fab6. I have been staying at Abhi's house, but I didn't know he is from Fab6 either. I also didn't know that Abhi and Manik are friends. So imagine Aunty, there would have been a lot of students who applied for scholarship. How do you expect uncle to recognize me by seeing a small pic among so many applications, especially when he has met me only once?"

        Nyonika was no longer upset after hearing Nandini's explanation. She went to the kitchen to give instructions to the servant.

        Raj : "Thank you! She told I and Manik are of the same type, but actually mom and son are of the same type. They make their own assumptions even before listening to the entire explanation. The only difference is she gets upset and he gets angry."

        Days were passing by. Fab6 were in their jam room.

        Manik : "The music instructor informed that he had to go to his hometown because of an emergency. He is not going to be here for the next two weeks. The substitutes he suggested aren't free when we need them."

        Manik : "It will take time to find someone on our own. Probably, the instructor himself will be back by then. So either we will have to stop practicing classical till then and concentrate on other genre or manage practicing on our own."

        Mukti : "It is better if we continue to practice. It is difficult as it is, it wouldn't be good if we take a break."

        Dhruv : "If we practice on our own, we wouldn't know if we are doing something wrong."

        The discussion continued.

        Abhi : "There is someone who can help us during his absence. She has a very good knowledge of classical music. She will be able to help us with singing as well as the instruments, but the question is if you guys are willing to learn from her? She is a lot younger than us and ..."
