Part 6: Flashback

Hello, everyone, I thought I might preface this by saying that this chapter is not part of the actual storyline it's just a filler chapter that will hopefully explain Axel and Athena's relationship it's in Athena's POV btw, this chapter takes place before she met Liam or came to earth so she doesn't have any knowledge of future events. Any chapter after this will go back to normal in the normal timeline, enjoy!

Athena's POV

My phone alarm went off in the early hours of the morning, any minute now... we should knock in exactly 7 seconds...

knock, knock, knock, knock

There goes me and Axel's secret door knock, whenever he comes to see me, servants are usually restricted from certain parts of the palace my dad had to put a special shock anklet on Axel's foot so that if he comes anywhere near my part of the palace he gets instantly shocked and he said that it hurts like hell but I found a way to remove it but my dad doesn't have to know that.

Life in Hades might seem like a horrific nightmare to outsiders but it's not nearly as bad as souls say it is I mean besides the burning pit and all the torture but other than that it's really not that bad I guess, well life for me is definitely a lot easier mostly because my Dad is the lord of the underworld himself Hades. He can basically do whatever he wants not to mention he has the power to slice your throat in an instant but deep down he's a big old teddy bear. But the person that brings light to me even in the dark depths of Hades is my "ride or die" Axel. I first saw his face when we were 15. It's customary that any woman in the royal family must undergo a traditional competition in honour of them to find the perfect guy, long story short Axel was one of the participants but my father didn't allow him to win because of someother guy who framed him for a crime he didn't do, what happened to the winner you might ask? well, that's a story for another time. All the other competitors that lost the competition ended up working as servants in the palace, sadly including Axel but we still have our ways of seeing each other.

"Are you asking for your dad to see me waiting out here Athena?" He asks from outside.

"Coming," I say, I twist the doorknob to see my beautiful boyfriend standing there with a tray of pastries on a silver platter

"Suprise," He says smiling, I'll admit not something I'd expect from someone who was a murderer in their past life.

"Get in, you didn't come last night, I missed you," I say

"I was on kitchen duty last night, now are we gonna eat these in front of the tv or what?" He says

Axel has been sneaking in and out in order for us to see each other for as long as I can remember so he kind of knows his way around the entire palace so he's kind of a pro at sneaking around. He's my best friend and I can't imagine life down here without him, I know it sounds cheesy but it's the truth.

long conversations on the floor, motorbike rides, races, it's all we would do together and I loved it. I knew him inside out and the same for him, everything is so carefree and I can't imagine it any other way.
