Part 20: Healed wounds

Athena's POV

The last day of our retreat camp came, it's weird how I was dreading this at the start but it's actually brought me and Liam back together.
Me and Harley packed up our cabin early in the morning and after a breakfast of stale toast we threw our bags in the compartment under the bus and started the drive home.
I sit on the bus next to Liam my head rested against his shoulder, a warm feeling travels through my body whenever I make physical contact with Liam very different from when we first met and we couldn't even touch each other because of the paranormal force between us but back then we didn't know what was going on. Upon our arrival back at school Liam gave me a slight nudge and whispered in my ear
"Athena wake up we're back at school"
I smiled at his voice so close to me.
Liam gives me a kiss on the forehead and I take the next bus to the caravan park.

The next morning...
The day after camp we still had school but we could come at 12:30 leaving the morning to relax, the warm sunshine poured into my room in the early hours of the morning. My phone does a small vibration, I pick it up and see Liam's message.
"Good morning, wanna meet for an early stroll on the beach?"
"Sure I'll meet you at 9😘" I reply
I put on loose sun robe and sandals and I walk down the long creaky wooden stairs leading down to the beach, the sharp salty air hits me in the face and the large turquoise waves crash against the shore. I look around for Liam but he's no where to be seen.
"Up here!" Liam calls from above, he's standing on top of a rocky cliff.
"You're an idiot, you do know that right?" I say
He steps off the cliff but his large feather wings catch him mid air leaving him to drift down to the sand in front of me.
"Liam someone might've seen you!" I say clearly concerned.
"I'm not too worried," he says staring out into the ocean.
"You know this carefree attitude of yours is getting kind of annoying," I mumble
"Well you'll just have to get used to then won't you?" He says nonchalantly but I can tell it's a joke, I start to walk off and Liam follows
"Do you remember the first time we met here?" I ask
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I was chasing a dog," he chuckles
"Yeah the dog was going to attack me!" I exclaim
"She was not going to attack you," he says rolling his eyes.
"Um does your sister know about us now," I ask
"No and she doesn't need to," he says
"I think she should know," I say
"Are you kidding? You literally got burned last time!" He exclaims
"I still think she should know," I utter
"I'll let her know when it's time," he says
A minute passes by of us just walking down the sand
"Aren't you supposed to teach me about love?" I ask remembering what he told me on camp
"Okay have you ever put someone before your self?" He asks calmly
"Well, not really, in Hades we were all taught to fend for ourselves," I sigh looking back at my bad girl past.
"Well I'm not saying you have to do that for me but just remember I'm here too," he says taking my hand and placing it on his chest.
"It means I feel your pain, sadness, happiness and fear, I feel all of that too," he says
"You feel some type of way around that person, like the world can just stop and it can just be you and them roaming the earth and everything will be fine..."
"Liam," I interrupt
"I think I know what love is now," I whisper somehow making my way to his lips sparks fill my body when we kiss, it's like an imaginary barrier between us has just been broken down for the first time, he places his hands on my hips and attempts to lift me up but we end up falling to the sand together, in his warm tender embrace, of any of the times I've kissed Axel none of those kisses could ever measure up to this one.
When we break away I stare for a few seconds in shock of what I've just done but my shocked expression soon turns into a wide grin, Liam smiles at me with wide eyes then scoops up my small body into his arms and carries me towards the water I look at him before he drops me in the water, I stand up straight away in the water
"Liam! You can't just drop me in water!" I shout
"You wanna know something no one knows?" He asks clearly amused at the sight of me fully wet and a piece of seaweed of my head.
"What?" I ask pealing the green seaweed off my hair, gross
"My names not actually Liam, it's Castiel," he says casually
"And you've kept that from me all this time," I laugh
"Yep," he nods
"Well I might have to punish you then," I snarl
I create a wave that could tower over Liam's body with my powers and I throw it over his head getting him all wet.
"You'll pay for that!" He says
I laugh as we flicks more water at my face as I do the same, for a second he looks up at the cliff he came down from except someone is standing there, someone I particularly don't like, actually that's an understatement, somebody I hate, it's Liam's older sister Mariah  scolding us down.
"You see her don't you," he sighs
"Yes. I. Do," I sigh
I can see Mariah start to walk down the stairs making her way towards us,
"Come on," he says taking my hand leading me out the water.
We meet Mariah at the shore where she's staring down on us.
"What do you want?" I ask sternly
"I'm not here to pick a fight, I owe you an apology," She says looking me in the eye
"What?!"
" what I did was wrong and now I ask for your forgiveness," She says
I glance at Liam, he nods slowly
"I accept your apology," I say
"I also wanted to tell you guys that you'll be late for school," She says
"Shit!" Liam says
"Let's go!" I shout
We run up the stairs and get to school as soon we can.

At school...
Liam had history and I had chem so we said goodbye and I went to my locker, I grab my textbook and shut the door.

"Miss me Athena?" I shudder at the cynical yet familiar voice

FUCK
"AXEL?!"
