The driver dropped both me and my best friend - Christian at the car park of the school. And we both came out of the car and headed to our class, walking majestically, not giving a fuck about the fact that we were already late. It was the first day of school so there was no need to rush.
Even Christian wasn't in a rush like I expected him. He felt relaxed and excited today. Probably because school has resumed. Well, I for one am also excited to be back in school.
My escape.
School is nothing but my escape from everything.
With time, you will find out what I mean by that.
I walked alongside my best friend in the direction of our classroom. He had been talking nonstop since we entered the car this morning. He was currently talking about the shitty things he did with his girlfriend on their date after church yesterday. I half listened to what he was saying and half tried examining the environment.
He was used to talking while I listened to him. Although sometimes, most times, to be honest, I drift away from the conversation. Especially the ones that involve him and his girlfriend or his silly adventures with girls. I get bored of them. I wasn't interested. Had never been interested in girls the way he was interested in them.
Let's say I did not have anyone that serves as a good role model.
On our way, we saw the Vice principal Academic talking with a woman in an expensive lace and a young girl who seemed to be her daughter.
Then the typical Christian spoke.
"That girl is hot," Christian commented, licking his bottom lip.
I frowned down at him with a little disapproving glare. "She's a kid Christian." I drawled. "Moreover, you just finished talking about your girlfriend." I sneered looking away from the three women.
"That apart. It's not bad to compliment someone who looks good. She's sexy. I guess she's also a new student. I haven't seen her around."
"Obviously," I muttered nonchalantly.
He noticed the tone of my voice and a small knowing smile spread on his lips.
He always gets the clue when I want him to stop. So he did. And we began up the flight of stairs to our new class.
On our way up the stairs, we met Mrs Bolarin. She frowned at us. A little more to me, I guessed. But who cares? I knew we were late and I don't give a damn. And she knows that too. The fact that she could not say anything about it annoyed her even more. They knew better than to meddle in my business.
Christian greeted her and she replied sternly and I didn't bother saying anything. And she walked past us while we continued our walk up the stairs.
Then we got to the noisy hallway. It irked me and I frowned. I hate this noise. But it was expected and usual. Especially today which happened to be the first day of school. And teachers might not be entering the class anytime soon.
Some guys were already hyping Christian as he walked past their class and he returned the energy, waving back at them with that charming smile of his.
Then we got to our class. It was as noisy as the other class but quite less. Then we stepped into the class. And the class turned silent.
Like a graveyard.
It was pin-drop silent. Tension rose in the air as all eyes fell on me.
That is what happens whenever I step into anywhere in the school. And my class wasn't an exception. The stares.
