Jason POV

The school is hosting a basketball competition and we will be  competing with Bright Future College. And it is coming up soon and our school had never win against them. Well there had literally won no competition that involve basketball which make the school so sad and hardly take a time to look at the basketball team.

But Mr Ben had been doing a good work. I guess the thousands of nairas entering his account every month actually worth it.

The practice had taken most of my time since last week. I couldn't miss one because it was going to be hell on me from Mr Ambrose.

Despite my good performance and record in the team since I arrived, he still can't admit I was better than his son and I could play so well.

I have had a big fan with the Junior students in the team especially from those that just enroll into the school and probably knows little about my past history in the school.

At first, they taught I was a beginner and they could all mock me with their skill - probably to pay me back for those things I might had done to them in the last years.

But as time goes on, I had to sit and watch as they play trying so hard to prove they were the best but still flaunting. And they need more training.

The first time Mr Ben let me join in the practice, I had to play against Ibrahim and some others.

The pride and joy on his face was not masked. He was so determined to mock and disgrace me among the students. One thing I was grateful for was that Christian happen to be on my side of the team and he couldn't stop smiling. He had wanted me to play in the court for quite some time. But you can't dictate to the coach and the trainer.

To cut the story short, Ibrahim and the others knew what I was made of and they knew I wasn't just a beginner. I am a master because I learn from one.

Mr Ben had been a good advisor and trainer. He always beam whenever he sees me. His praises remind me of my father. And he makes me feel welcome to the team and I know there is someone aside Christian that want me to be happy, that want me to feel belong, that want me to develop my skill and that want me to know I am doing the right thing on the team.

Although sometimes he could be a little annoying because he never seize to ask about my mother. It was obvious he was attracted to her.

Everyone knows his wife dies of cancer three years ago and he have two kids.

But he could try forever. I am not so close to my mother to know anything about her personal life. And I have never thought much about it either. Because I actually don't care what she do with her personal life.

But I can swear it had been fun being with others that have the same determination as you are and really enjoy doing it. The students had begin to warm up to me.

Although they are few that were so loyal to Ibrahim. They were his close friends and they chose his side.

I don't actually care much. I don't care who like me or not. Not that the feeling had been bad but I care less without it. It's doesn't really matter to me. I had live with the anger and hatred from others for a long time.

Only one person thought matters.

Christain become more active and always love to go to practice since I joined. And we make a pretty good team even if we play against each other at home. I am glad he is in the team.

But someone is more happier than the both of us - His mother Mrs Amaka Nwosu.

After practice today - which we finished pretty late because of the competition coming up on Saturday; I went home with Christain without seeing Laila.
