Laila POV

It's finally the d day. I was surprised when my aunt came to wake me up. I think some people are more excited than I am. I went to the living room for a short morning devotion. And I was congratulated over and over again by my aunt and Uncle Femi. I'm just leaving high school but it's like I am leaving the university. But nevertheless I'm glad that they are people who care for me. Who wish me well.

I had sat up last night with both of them. Talking and laughing. Talking about our high school memories. Aunt Judith is the only one with a boring high school life. Uncle Femi story was the funniest.

And I am glad I have people to talk to, people who can relate with what I had experience even if mine is far different from theirs.

And before I went to sleep, they lecture me on the journey I still have ahead of me. I already hear it over and over again. And I'm sure I will hear it again. Although the school  organised a educational program but it is a seminar that talks about career path and lectures that we should be careful and focus on our studies and now I am listening to a second round.

But I listen to it anyway.

It is a sign that there are people who cares about me and about my future. And a constant reminder that I am the author of my future.

I received a call from Mrs Badmus after I finished bathing and another ones from the Anthony's. I was so happy to hear from them. It was good to know they had me in mind. And I can't help but feel blessed for everything.

This is the day I gave been waiting, anticipating, looking forward to. And here it is today. Just three days ago, we had the dinner and Award night and it was magnificent. The school had done a perfectly good job to make it the best. And it was nothing less than amazing. So I can't wait to be in school to see my teachers and friends again - even if it is for the last time.

"Laila." Aunt Judith said waking me from my cloud of thoughts. She poked her head into my room. "Have you take your bath?"

"Yes aunt."

"That's good. Monica will be here soon to help with your makeup." She told me.

"Okay aunt." I said and I smile at myself in the mirror. I look forward to the rest of the day so much.

I pick up my phone and call someone. I wait for the receiver to answer the call all the while daydreaming.

"Hi Laila." The voice said. It sounded happy and I am glad for it.

"Hi. Congratulations. We are no longer an high schooler." I said.

And he chuckles on the phone.

"So you are so happy about that. Uhh?" He asked.

"Why not? For a while we are free. And we are celebrating that freedom. So what about you? Don't tell me you don't like it?"

"Who won't? Some people are just more excited than we are. Can you imagine?"

"I can tell. My whole family is like.... Crazy about this. But the good part is there are here and they are happy for us." I said.

"You right about that. So congratulations to you too Laila."

"Thank you." I appreciated. I can tell he is smiling right now.

"Don't mention. I can't wait to see you in that gown. I got to show them my girlfriend is not just intelligent, she is gorgeous."
