"I'm so glad that we are getting to hang out just us two!" MiHi smiled to Ji Eun as she brought a glass of water to her.
"Me too. Thanks for inviting me over." Ji Eun smiles back.
"Oh, of course! I needed a good girls day. I'm always with Kookie. So, you and Hoseok, huh?" MiHi raised her eyebrow at Ji Eun.
"What about me and Hoseok? We're just friends." Ji Eun said looking down at the water in her glass.
"The blush that just showed up on your cheeks says otherwise." MiHi nudged the other girl. "But if you don't wanna talk about it we can save that for later. Hobi told me that you are going back to college for your masters degree in business, how's that going?"
"Oh, pretty good. I'm taking online classes."
"Why did you choose business as your major? Do you want snacks?" MiHi pointed toward the kitchen when she asked the second question.
Ji Eun nodded and followed the other girl, "I just have always loved the thought of owning my own company and being in charge of something. Although, I don't think that will ever actually happen." Ji Eun laughed.
"Awe come on why not?" MiHi had her head in the fridge as she spoke this.
"Well, first of all that would probably entail going out a lot, which is something I don't really do."
"Liar. You and Hoseok go out all the time."
"Yeah, at night. I don't really go out in the day unless I have to."
"May I ask why?" MiHi set a bag of chips onto the counter.
"I have solar urticaria, which just means I'm allergic to the suns rays."
"What really? That's crazy. How do you deal with that?" MiHi sat down on a stool next to Ji Eun.
Ji Eun shrugged. "I just limit the amount I'm in the sun or cover up when I do have to go out in it. I've gotten used to dealing with it."
"Wow. That sounds awful. I'm sorry you have to deal with that."
"Thanks. Now enough about me tell me about you!" Ji Eun insisted ready to take the subject off of herself for awhile.
"Me? Uh, not much to tell really." MiHi laughed.
"Aren't you in college?"
"Yes, but I just started my first semester." MiHi smiled.
"That's exciting! How are you liking the college life?"
"It's nice, lots of work but I'm really loving it. Jungkook helps me a lot."
"Awe that's sweet. Speaking of Jungkook, tell me about him." Ji Eun knew that having MiHi speak of her boyfriend would keep the conversation averted from herself for awhile. It's not that Ji Eun was scared to tell MiHi things, she actually trusted the girl already. She knew that she would be good friends with the young girl. Ji Eun just didn't really enjoy speaking of herself in general, not when others had much more interesting things to talk about.
MiHi talked about her and Jungkook's relationship for the next thirty minutes until she finally stopped herself. "I've been talking about myself and Jungkook far too much now." She laughed.
"No, no it's okay! I love hearing about it." Ji Eun smiled. "I asked you in the first place."
MiHi looked down at the watch on her wrist briefly. "My mom is gonna be home soon, I'd really like you to meet her. She'll love you!" The girl beamed.
"Okay, I'll have to leave in about an hour, though." Ji Eun looked at the time on her phone.
"Okay, no problem! So, since you avoided the question earlier I'm gonna ask you again. You and Hoseok, huh?"
Ji Eun rolled her eyes. "I told you we are only friends."
"Yes, but friends who quite obviously like one another." MiHi rose an eyebrow as she said this.
Ji Eun gave an airy laugh. "No." Although, she said no the back of her mind kept nagging that she was a liar. Ji Eun did in fact like Hoseok but she'd never admit that to anyone aloud because if she did, it became real. She didn't know if she could deal with it becoming real.
"You're lying to me or to yourself I don't know which one, maybe both but you are." MiHi said matter-of-factly.
Right as Ji Eun was about to answer the younger the door to the house swung open and an older woman walked through the threshold. She was maybe in her forties. Ji Eun could instantly tell that the woman who had entered the home was MiHi's mother because they looked so much alike they could be sisters.
"Oh, Mom, you're home!" MiHi walked over to her mother and took her bag. "This is my friend Ji Eun." She gestured over to Ji Eun as she stood up to greet the woman.
"Ji Eun. It's nice to meet you. I'm EunMi."
"It's great to meet you as well." Ji Eun smiled as she hugged the older woman.
"Is she a college friend?" EunMi looked to her daughter.
"Oh, no. This is Hoseok oppa's, um, friend. I met her last week with Kookie."
"Oh okay, yes, I do remember when you went out on that double date thing now."
"It wasn't really a double date, ma'am." Ji Eun interjected.
"Oh, really? Seemed like one to me, but what so I know I'm just an old woman." She shrugged and laughed lightly. "I'm going to go get ready for bed. It was great to meet you Ji Eun, ome around anytime you want, you're always welcome." The older woman smiled and walked up the stairs.
"She works the later shifts at a restaurant so she isn't usually up for much when she gets home." MiHi looks up at her mother as she rounds the corner at the top of the stairs.
"My mom is tired from work most of the time too so I totally understand." Ji Eun put a hand on MiHi's shoulder comfortingly. "I'm gonna go ahead and go on home now. Thank you so much for inviting me over. I'll have to have you over to my house some time." Ji Eun smiled.
"Yes, that would be so fun! I had a good time talking to you tonight." MiHi hugged Ji Eun tightly.
"Me too." Ji Eun squeezed the other girl back.
