Hoseok sighed into the phone. "I don't know Yoongi. She just ran, okay?" He then clicked the speakerphone button and set the phone down on his coffee table.
"You had to do something, tell me what happened?"
"Well I asked her a question and then she ran." Hoseok knew exactly why Ji Eun ran, he knew he did wrong and he knew Yoongi would tell him that.
"Thank you that really clears it up. What was the question?" Hoseok could hear the eye roll in Yoongi's voice as he said this.
"I asked her why she doesn't tell me things about herself. I know it wasn't right, I shouldn't have pushed that. I just really want to know everything about her and I only know little things like her favorite color."
"You're right but you're also wrong." Hoseok scrunched his brow at this.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well I think that you have a right to ask her that. It's a fairly simple question, I just think that it is a little more complicated for Ji Eun and she got scared."
"Scared?"
"I mean there has to be a reason that she hasn't told you big things about herself right? Maybe you bringing it up scared her and the only thing she knew to do was run."
Hoseok sat quietly for a couple minutes. Yoongi just waited for Hoseok to process his words.
"I think you might be right." Hoseok whispered, his voice began to get louder as he continued to speak. "I did push her but I didn't push her that much. The small push scared her though no matter how small it was because all she had to say is it's complicated or something like that and I would have understood and let her tell me in time."
"Exactly. So, what are you gonna do now that you understand that?"
"I don't know, I sent her a message last night after she left asking if she was okay and she left me on read."
"Maybe try texting her again? It couldn't hurt." Hoseok nodded and grabbed his phone. He opened up their messages together, but before he could compose the message there was a knock at his door.
"I'll have to call you back Yoongi. Someone's at my door."
"No problem."
Hoseok hung up and then locked his phone deciding to text Ji Eun after he sees who is at his door. "I'm coming." He shouted toward his door on his way to it.
He sighed and pulled the door open. His eyes instantly become huge when he sees the person standing before him. Ji Eun stood in front of him clad in her pajamas wringing her hands.
"Hi," she whispered looking at Hoseok's feet.
"Hi," he answered, matching Ji Eun's pitch. He stared at her for a few more moments before he came to reality. "Oh, um, do you-do you want to come in?"
Ji Eun simply nodded in response. Hoseok instantly moved out of the way for Ji Eun to walk inside.
Hoseok closed the door and grabbed the back of his neck not knowing what to say.
After a minute or two of awkward silence both tried to speak at the same time.
"Oh, sorry I, um, you first." Hoseok stuttered, then gestured to the couch.
They both took a seat on Hoseok's couch and sat quietly for a few seconds again before Ji Eun spoke up.
"Okay, so I have a lot to say and if I don't just say it then I won't do it. So, can you just listen for a couple minutes." Hoseok nodded and gave Ji Eun a small smile. "Okay, well first I'm sorry for running away last night I shouldn't have, it was not the right response." Hoseok opened his mouth to tell her he was sorry as well but instantly closed it, remembering he said he wouldn't interrupt.
"I just, um, okay so the reason why I ran is because I was scared. I was so scared. I'm terrified to open myself up to you because I don't want to get hurt." Ji Eun looked at Hoseok. "The one man in my life that I am supposed to trust to stay and be there for me wasn't and I don't know I guess that really scarred me. My dad left me and my mom when I was three because I have this thing where I can't go out in the sun. I get these rashes and bad burns if I am hit by direct rays of sun and I guess that was too much for him so he left us. I tried to reconnect with him when I was eighteen but uh he started a new family, one that didn't have a defective daughter." Ji Eun started to cry by this point.
Hoseok instantly came beside Ji Eun and hugged her. "Listen to me, you are not defective Ji Eun. Never ever think that about yourself. He was the problem not you."
Ji Eun began to cry harder into Hoseok's chest knowing that he wasn't going to leave her just because she had a couple problems. Hoseok just squeezed her tighter feeling tears well up in his eyes.
After minutes of them sitting there embracing one another crying Ji Eun slowly pulled away. Hoseok looked at her and slowly wiped her tears away. He was smiling at her but then his face instantly morphed into worry.
"You came here in the sun!" Hoseok came to the realization. "Are you okay? Why did you do that? You could have been hurt, right? The burns have to hurt." He started to look at Ji Eun's exposed skin in complete worry.
"Hobi," Ji Eun laughed. Hoseok continued to look at her in worry. Ji Eun grabbed his hand. "Hoseok!" He finally stopped and looked up to her eyes. "Yes, it does hurt if it happens but I'm fine I promise. I had to come and see you a little sun wasn't going to stop me."
Hoseok sighed." I just don't want you to be hurt."
"It's okay."
"I'm sorry about your dad." He whispered and laid his forehead onto hers. This action took Ji Eun by surprise, they had never been this close. She definitely didn't mind it though. She welcomed the butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
"It's okay, I came to terms with him not being in my life a long time ago."
The two sat in this position for a while until Hoseok looked up into her eyes and smiled slightly before saying something that Ji Eun wasn't expecting to hear.
