Katrina sat at the table in the tailoring shop which now belonged to her stepmother and her daughters. She had forgotten all about what she was doing because she was deep in thought thinking about a song she wanted to write. She was leaning over the counter twirling her raven-colored hair between her middle finger and her pointing finger. As she twirled her hair, she was writing a song down that she was excited to write about. Her life pretty much sucked because she had to live a life of servitude. Sometimes she found herself drifting off in la la land and had high hopes and dreams to get out of the life she was in. In fact, she had kept a secret checking account under her name so that way she would at least save up to get her own apartment. Kat's stepmother Jessica and her two daughters Valerie and Alice had her work in the tailoring shop. She didn't have much of stuff that belonged to her dad. The only thing her father had left her was a gold-plated locket that she had gotten when she turned fifteen.

While she was lost in thought, she heard the door ring letting her know that a customer had entered the shop. Snapping out of her thoughts, she looked at the door and saw her two best friends Devyn Lundy and Tara Yummy. Devyn was a spunky yet funny girl with brown hair that flowed just above her shoulders. Tara was short with blonde and brown hair; she always wore her hair in a ponytail as that was her favorite style.

"Hey Kat!" exclaimed Devyn as she leaned against the counter and Tara leaned against the wall. "How's it going?"

"It's going," says Kat sounding depressed. "You know how my stepfamily acts," she continued in a mocking tone. "'Keep the shop clean, make sure every customer gets what they ask for, and don't fuck anything up!' The Usual."

"So, where's your stepfamily now?" asks Tara while she chewed on a piece of gum.

"Oh, you know, probably out shopping,"

"You seem distracted," questioned Devyn.

"Yeah," agrees Tara. "What's up?"

"Sorry, you two caught me off guard," she says. "I was lost in thought."

"Well, I think I know what could cheer you up," says Devyn as she winked toward Kat.

"Oh really? What's that?"

"We need to have some girl time together,"

Kat groaned as this was something that Devyn didn't want to stop talking about. Devyn and Tara knew what Kat was going through, Kat sighed and nodded her head. Some girls go to the mall with their friends – while others would talk about boys. Devyn, Kat and Tara weren't like that, instead, they entered the house which was connected to the tailoring shop. It wasn't much of a big apartment but big enough for her and her stepfamily to live in. They weren't going to be at the apartment for a while, so Kat thought it would have been a good idea to show her friends some new songs she had written down. The three friends went downstairs toward the basement, the basement was where Kat ended up being stuck living in rather than her stepsiblings. Her stepfamily got the biggest rooms in the apartment which was her old bedroom.

Even though she was kicked to the curb, she still tried to make the most of it. Once they entered the room, Kat's dog, Kiwi approached her. His tail wagged back and forth showing how excited he was to see his master. Since they were already in the basement, Kat walked over to a hidden compartment in her room as her friends sat down on her bed.

"I've been writing some new songs," says Katrina. Devyn and Tara were excited to hear all about it.

"Tell us about it!"

Sam's POV

I was heading toward my bedroom when I heard a knock on my front door. Sighing, I turned around and made my way over to the door, as I did, I grabbed the doorknob and opened it. Standing in the door frame was my best friend (and possibly my only friend) Colby Brock. Colby was the only person who understood what I wanted to do. My name is Sam Golbach, I have blonde hair and blue eyes. I also wanted to be a YouTuber. But it was going to be hard considering my father's status. He was practically rich — because of this, sometimes I find myself surrounded by fake friends. For once, aside from Colby I would like to have someone who understands me and doesn't like me for my money.
