Katrina was busy cooking breakfast as her stepfamily came downstairs. She tried to stay quiet not wanting to allow them to find out that she had snuck out. She had been good at keeping it at the down low. Especially when it came to her singing, if her family found out that she was sneaking to the school to record her songs; then she would have been as good as dead. Katrina had tied her hair into a messy bun and had already finished making her family breakfast. Placing the breakfast on the table she put gave them some food.

Already Kat's stepsisters were digging into their plates. Careful not to make a mess on their school uniforms. Kat went to a uniformed school that she had always gone to since before her father had died. She wanted so bad to leave the school and her house, but the problem was she didn't have any money and her stepmother was keeping her money hostage. Alice and Valerie wore white blouses with black skirts and tights. Kat had gotten her own plate and started putting food on it.

"Why are you still here?" blurted Jessica. "Leave us so we can enjoy our meals,"

"Yes, Jessica," responded Kat as she left the kitchen and went to her room. Finally, in her own private room, Kat sat her plate on her desk and changed into her own uniform. She did not quite like wearing the uniform nor did she like wearing skirts or even blouses. Her uniform was different from her stepsisters. She had black pants and a plain white shirt with flat dress shoes. Pulling all of them on she placed her school things and placed it in her lavender bookbag. Then she grabbed her bike helmet and placed it on her head. If she was going to get to school on time, she had to be quick. She had a feeling that her stepfamily wasn't going to give her a ride, so she walked upstairs and made her way to the garage where her family had already left. Grabbing her bike, she walked out and made her way to school. Today she had high hopes that nothing bad was going to happen. Though, she didn't think that Sam Golbach had gone to the same exact school.

Sam's POV

I had finished getting ready for school and was already heading there. I still had the notebook in my bag, somehow, I felt like today I was going to meet the girl that I heard singing last night. The only way to know who owned it was to look for anyone who would be worried sick about their journal. I arrived at school the same time Kat had arrived; she was riding a bike which didn't surprise me since she had told me that she didn't have a license or a car. Putting my own car in park, I grabbed my bag and climbed out.

Katrina was looking lovely today, her long brown hair hung over her shoulders even though we were required to wear uniforms; somehow Kat was able to pull it off. She walked into the building acting like she didn't even notice me. Raising an eyebrow, I walked to the entrance and entered the school. The school was bustling with movement, students were heading to class or were by their lockers. I walked through the school and caught sight of Kat as she was walking with two other girls. I followed behind wondering where she was going and if she was the owner of the notebook. Thankfully, my locker was nearly three lockers down. Casually, I started to dial my combination only eavesdropping trying to figure out what the girls were saying.

"Kat, that music was amazing last night," says one brown-haired girl standing with Kat.

"Yeah," agrees the other who was slightly taller with blonde and brown hair. "I really think you should try to get in touch with an agent,"

I looked at Kat from behind my opened locker listening to every detail. But when I looked at Kat, I saw that she was going through her bag. She seemed worried about something and I wanted to know what was wrong

"Kat?" says the first girl. "What's the matter?"

"Devyn," answers Kat. "My song book is missing,"

"What?!" exclaims both girls. "How is that possibly didn't you put it in your bag last night?"

"I'm positive that I did!" this was my chance. I grabbed the supplies that I needed and closed my locker. As I was about to walk over to them, the school bell suddenly went off telling everyone that we needed to go to class or else we were going to be late.

No One's POV

"We got to go Kat, maybe when you have study hall go and check the recording studio," suggested Tara.

"But what if it's not there?"

"I'm sure it's there, they wouldn't steal it,"

"I hope your right, but I don't want my stepfamily to see it. If they saw it, they'd use it against me."

"Don't worry Kat, we'll find it," says Devyn. Kat sighed in relief as they walked to their first class together. The rest of the day went by slow because she was worried about her notebook, she couldn't concentrate in any of her classes. So, when it was time for her to take a study hall, she went straight to the recording studio. In the recording studio, Sam was waiting for her. He knew that this would have been the perfect time in case she was the one who owned the song book and was going to come back for it.

Sam's POV

After fifteen minutes of waiting I heard the door open as I looked up, I saw Kat standing there and looking at me. My face immediately felt hot as I was trying to keep my cool, she and I looked at each other for a few minutes then she seemed to realize what she was doing and started searching for something.

"Is something wrong Kat?"

"Oh uh, nothing," she says as she made her way toward the booth.

"Were you looking for your song book?" that caught her attention. She stopped and looked at me with confusion.

"How do you know that?"

"Because I found it here," I said pulling it out of my bag. "I was in the school last night when I heard you sing."

"Oh god, you weren't supposed to hear that," says Kat as she politely walked over to me and took the notebook. "You found it?"

"Yeah, you left it in the recording booth," I watched as Kat's face had gone very red. She was embarrassed but it didn't matter. I wanted to get to know her. Since she was the one who sang last night, I had to get closer to her.

"Thanks," says Kat. "I'm sorry you had to hear that,"

"Hey, you sounded amazing," I responded. "Is that something you've been wanting to do for a while? Your lyrics were beautiful,"

"Yeah, slightly," says Katrina. "I've been dreaming about becoming a singer for a while, but I don't have the money to make music,"

"You know, I would love to get to know you better," I continued. "And that is a wonderful dream, I've been wanting to become a YouTuber but no one except for Colby believes me,"

"That's horrible, I understand how you feel,"

"So, um do you ever want to spend time together?" I asked nervously. "Like at a restaurant or something?"

"I'm sorry, I can't I work at the tailoring shop not far from the school," says Katrina. "My father used to own it and now it passed down to my stepfamily."

"What? I thought you would have gotten the family business?"

"Not until I'm eighteen years old, unless I decide otherwise,"

"So when can we meet again?"

"We can spend time tonight, maybe just doing some singing together?"

"Oh uh," I gulped nervously. "I don't know,"

"Come on you can't be that bad," I smiled as I knew what to do.

"Okay, maybe at least one song tonight,"

"Then tonight it is!" she said excitedly as she walked out of the studio. I watched her go as I felt my heart race. I knew that this was the right girl for me the moment that I laid eyes on her.
