"Oh hey!" says Valerie cheerfully as she walked over to Sam and Kat. "What are you crazy kids doing here?"

"Valerie?" says Katrina with a big sigh. "What are YOU doing here?"

"Well duh because it's school," she responds.

"And we're supposed to be here?" answers Alice. Kat rolled her eyes in annoyance as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. This was going to be annoying to her and she did not like the idea that her steps were getting involved with her relationship. "What are you crazy kids doing?"

"Well we're just talking," says Katrina. Valerie placed her hand up in front of her telling Kat that she didn't care.

"I wasn't talking to you Katrina, I was talking to Sam,"

"Um," says Sam. "Pretty much the same thing?"

"Whatever," says Valerie. "how about we go out on a date and ditch school?"

"Well,"

"And you can bring your friend Colby, I'm bringing Alice with me,"

"No thanks," says Sam. "I think I need to get to class,"

After making his point, Sam and Colby ditched Valerie and Alice. He didn't like either of them, the only reason he knew them was because their mother was friends with his father. Now they were trying to match each other which was ridiculous. Katrina also felt uncomfortable, who could blame her; unless those two horrible women were her siblings then he would feel sorry for Kat. Turning back to Katrina, Valerie and Alice waited for Tara and Devyn to leave so that they would give Katrina a warning. The minute the two walked away they looked at Katrina, their brown eyes filled with hate.

"Who do you think you are?" says Valerie. "He's my boyfriend you need to stay away from him,"

"He's not your boyfriend at all Valerie, in fact he's not anyone's boyfriend!"

"He sure seemed to be interested in you," says Alice glaring at her stepsister with anger and envy.

"The point is, stay away from him," says Valerie. "After all, who would love a tailor girl like you? Your worthless, why don't you get a life," Katrina grew silent as her stepsiblings walked away and she closed her locker door. Her steps were right, no one was going to love someone like her. She was nothing more than a tailoring girl and nothing was going to change that. She wondered why Sam even liked her. She figured she was going to find out that night.

Later that night

Katrina had met Sam at the school after hours. They had to avoid her stepfamily in case they decided to snoop around. Once Sam and Katrina were together, they made their way to the recording booth where they stepped inside and got ready to sing a song together. Katrina was nervous because she didn't know what to expect and if the guy was any good at singing. The only way to figure it out though was to face her fears and sing the song. She looked over and saw that Sam had a guitar with him, looking at Sam she smiled.

"I didn't know you played the guitar?"

"Yeah, I sing a little too,"

"That's amazing!"

"Thanks, my father had me take music lessons," he said as he started to play. Once he did, Katrina began to sing also, it was such an amazing feeling to have. She felt that she had found someone who she could relate to, not counting her friends. Then again, her friends always supported her no matter what. They were there with her tonight; the only difference was that they had gone into the sound area and helped with the tuning. Katrina and Sam sang a song they both knew, Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran.

Lyrics

Sam:

Give me love like her,

Cause lately I've been waking up alone

Pain splatters tear drops on my shirt

I told you I let them go

And that I'll fight my corner

Maybe tonight I'll call ya after my blood turns into alcohol

Sam and Kat looked at each other while they were singing. It was the best feeling that they had ever had. Sam was also glad that he had met Katrina at the mall, she was always so understanding and believed in her dreams. During the day, when they were all at school, Sam was not too pleased with Valerie and Alice. He knew them since they were young and the fact that they wanted to go out with him, and Colby made Sam feel disgusted. He didn't even like their mother either, but he had to be nice.

Sam and Kat

No, I just wanna hold ya

Give a little time to me

Or burn this down

Katrina loved singing and she loved listening to Sam's voice. He had such a wonderful voice that she wondered why he didn't sing much. As she sang and looked around, she noticed that Colby was there too, and he was standing in a corner watching everything unfold. Turning back to Sam she sung until the end of the song. Once they were done singing it was about one in the morning when Tara, Colby, and Devyn came over. They were smiling like idiots as Sam and Kat pulled their headphones off and Sam placed his guitar on the stand.

"Kat that was amazing!" says Sam as he gave her a hug.

"Dude! You guys rocked!" exclaims Colby. Then Colby looked at Sam trying to tell him something. He looked between Sam and then at Kat, until Sam realized what was going on. Clearing his throat, he turned to Kat.

"So, there's this thing happening at my house,"

"What thing?" asks Katrina.

"I'm having a party and I'm wondering if you could make it," this was the moment Katrina was waiting for. She knew that Sam liked her, and she was excited to go to the party. But the problem was that her stepfamily could find out.

"What's the theme?"

"It's a costume party," says Sam as he handed Kat a ticket. Kat politely took the ticket and looked at it. The dance was next Friday, so she had a week to figure out what she was going to wear. Taking a deep breath, she looked at Sam and nodded her head showing that she wanted to go.

"That's great!" he exclaimed. "I hope to see you there! I have to go now, my dad will be wondering where I am," Sam leaned forward and kissed Kat on her cheek then walked away. However, they did not factor the problem with Katrina's stepsisters following her to the school and eavesdropping. When Valerie heard the conversation, she grew angry and annoyed. How could Sam invite that little bitch and not invite her? Alice saw the expression on Valerie's face and wondered what was going on.

"What do you think we should do?" she said in a whisper.

"We need to figure out what else that girl is hiding," responded Valerie "Anything to make sure that she doesn't go to that dance," glaring briefly through the window, the girls walked out of the school and proceeded to go and tell their mother what they had seen.
