"Well it's time for me to go now, blondie." Looking at my phone, it was already past seven. There was hardly any streaks of light left from the sunset.
"Blondie?" He questioned with a baffled look on his sun kissed face. "Can't you think of a better name than that?"
I stood up and dusted off the sand that was on my behind. "Not really. Plus it's a simple name to call you by."
I had not given him my name nor had he, but I kinda preferred it that way. We were total strangers who simply got along.
I didn't want him to change his view on me if he were to find out who I was, more importantly my last name. Uchiha.
But I was rather curious to know what his name is. I didn't want to call him blondie forever.
"Haha you're right. Then I'll call you..." he intensely stared up at my face and was racking his brain for ideas. Minutes had gone by and I was awkwardly shifted my weight to my other leg as I waited for a response from him or if he had forgotten.
"Gah, I really don't know what to call you! I'm not creative!" He tugged his blonde locks in frustration before he gasped and a light bulb appeared over head.
"Aha! (E/c) eyes!"
"(E/c) eyes? Really?" It wasn't the best nickname to give me but I guess that's as good his creativity can get.
"Yeah! I guess...that's what really stood out to me when I first met you." He shyly rubbed the back of his neck and I took this opportunity to tease him.
"Still trying to charm me I see," I snickered and he waved both his hands in front of him with tiny blush rising to his cheeks.
"N-no, I-"
"Relax, I'm just kidding. But I guess it will do." I shrugged my shoulders and pulled out my phone again to check the time again and realized that I really needed to get going now.
"Anyways it was nice talking to you but I really need to get going now."
"I'll walk you home then." He got up from the ground and dusted his pants off but I placed my hands in front of him to stop him in case he took a step forward.
"No it's fine. I have somewhere else to go. But thanks anyways."
"Afraid your husband might see," he playfully said as he wiggled his eyebrows and nudged my arm with a smirk on his lips.
"Pfft, yeah right like that's gonna happen," I responded as I lightly pushed him away.
"But jokes aside, are you sure though?" He hesitantly asked, unsure whether he should let me walk off alone.
"I'm sure." I gave him a sincere smile to reassure him that it was okay.
"Well...I guess if you say so. Be careful." He gave me a wave goodbye and I did the same before leaving.
Rather than going my usual route that would lead me home, I took a different turn and started heading someplace where I also spent my time.
The hospital.
I walked in through the sliding doors and spoke with the same front desk receptionist when I came here. She was an older woman with a light complexion and had her medium length black hair tied into a bun.
She pretty much knew me by know and knew who I needed to see. She had me sign in then allowed me to walk through the doors.
I ended taking the elevator to the third floor and headed towards room 225. I turned the knob and slowly opened the door before stepping inside and closing it shut.
I walked into the dimly lit room and the only sound that filled this quiet room was the monitor. I quietly walked over to sit on the chair that was placed next to the bed. I plopped myself down and let out a sigh.
"Hey dad," I sadly whispered as I stared at his unconscious form. It's been two years since my father fell into a coma and I was desperately hoping for him to wake up any day now, but at the same time I was slowly losing hope day by day.
"You know...I met someone new yesterday. He's a weird and outgoing type of guy, but overall he seems like a good person," I ended with the corner of lip lifting upwards, but it dropped back down in an instant. "Sasuke is always busy with work so we hardly interact."
An agonizing loneliness surrounded my heart as I realized how alone I truly was. I was afraid that my father, the only one who stayed by my side unlike my mother, was never going to wake up and that he'd leave me alone.
"I miss you...so much...so so much. I don't know what to do," I croaked as I dropped my head and placed my hands over my face to cover the water work of tears that were slipping out from my (e/c) eyes.
I stayed there that night letting my muffled sobs fill the darkened room.
