CHAPTER TWENTY: WHAT MORE COULD GO WRONG

___________________________________

Mark was staring into space while sitting on the couch. He, Renjun and Taeyong were getting ready to go to the police station. Mark was starting to have second thoughts about going.

He didn't want to have to deal with the police but knew that he had to get more information about what Mr. Yang had possibly said to them.

He felt the couch dip and looked over to see Renjun sitting down next to him.

"Scared?" he asked. Mark nodded, amazed at how well his friend could read him. "Was I that obvious?" Mark asked.

Renjun shrugged his shoulders, "I've learned how to read you guys. After I was raped, I promised myself that I would learn how to read you guys just in case one of you were raped as well. It was my way of being able to look after you all," Mark shook his head.

"That was supposed to be my job. To look after all of you. I guess I wasn't very good at it,"

"Don't say that hyung. You and I did the best we could in that situation," Mark hummed, then continued to look at the ground.

"Are you two ready?" Taeyong asked, looking at both Renjun and Mark. The two nodded their heads and stood up, "Make sure you put on your mask. The media is still going crazy out there. I don't want your privacy to be any more invaded than it already is," Mark sighed, but did as he was told.

He went over to the cabinet and grabbed a mask for him and Renjun. Renjun also grabbed some hats for the two to wear.

They were both wearing a sweater, so that meant they would be able to hide their faces even more with their hoods. "Let's go," Taeyong said, and lead them out the door.

Luckily, they had a car waiting for them in the parking garage of the apartment complex, but they still had to cover up just in case.

The windows were tinted, but anything could happen. Inside the van, Taeyong held onto both Renjun and Mark, bringing their faces close to him.

That way, they were hidden even more. Mark was grateful that his hyung was doing that. It brought an extra source of comfort. Once the van got outside it was chaos.

The media seemed to know that the van carried some members of NCT and were crowding around it.

The driver was honking the horn constantly to try and get the crowd of people to move out of the way.

Renjun didn't like how loud it was with both the clicking of the cameras and everyone yelling questions at the van. He buried his face deeper into Taeyong's chest, clinging onto his arm.

"Shh, it's okay, Renjun. They can't get to us," Taeyong said, sensing how uncomfortable Renjun was getting. He started to rub circles on Renjun and Mark's backs to comfort them.

Even after they were finally able to leave behind the press, they stayed like that all the way to the police station. "We're almost there," Taeyong said quietly.
