Chapter Four

Its half way through the interview and no one has said a word to me. Not one. I've just been sitting here, in between Liam and Zayn, in front of Niall and behind Harry, doing nothing.

Other than the few spaced out ‘mhmm’ and nods, I haven’t done anything. I've noticed that Liam has been glancing at me every so often and smiling encouragingly, but no one else has even acknowledged me.

Until, that is, the interviewer- Katie- asks one of the most uncomfortable questions for me.      

“So… who’s dating who here?” she smiles widely at us. Her pen poised to take notes along with the multiple cameras aimed at us is making me more nervous than I probably should be. I mean, come on, it’s a simple question. And I've been to many interviews before. It just so happens that this time I actually have a crush. On a guy.

“Single,” Harry says first, smiling at Katie. She smiles back and looks to Niall.

“Single…” he says, pouting slightly. Katie laughs and shakes her head. Even I smile at Niall being, well… Niall.

“Single,” Zayn says, smiling his… smile into the camera and glancing back at Katie, making her blush a little. She squares her shoulders and smiles again.

“Liam? Louis?” she prompts us.

“Single,” Liam says semi-sadly, and glances back at me. Probably worried on what I'll say. I sure know I am.

“S-Single,” I stutter out, fighting back a blush at how unsure I sounded.

“So all of you are single?”

“Yes, it seems so,” Liam answers, his lips tugging upwards. It may just be me, but I think his smile is a bit… happier than it normally is.

“How did you group of good looking guys manage that? I would’ve thought you would all be in some type of relationship,”

“Some of us just don’t swing that way, I guess,” Harry says, winking sneakily up at me. What’s that supposed to mean?

If Katie saw the look he gave me, she doesn’t say anything about it. “I understand. It must be hard to maintain really any kind of relationship with people outside of the band by now, what with the constant moving,”

“Near constant, and so far, the road’s been treating us well. We've even managed to gain some new and even unexpected friends along the way,” Harry says, smiling like there's something going on.

What's he playing at..?

“Oh really? That’s nice,” Katie says nicely. “What's this I've been hearing about ‘Louis Biersack and Andy Tomlinson?” she asks us- me- politely.

I freeze, mouth open to say something but I don’t know what to say.

“Well, as Harry was just saying, we've managed to gain some new friends,” Liam says, smiling at me. Thank you thank you thank you Liam, I so owe you one.

“You two seemed very hunky-dory,” she tells me, turning her head slightly to the side, showing her curiosity.

“Yeah, we've grown pretty close over the time we've known each other,” I answer, and it feels like a weight suddenly falls on my chest. There's something about ‘the time’ that seems a little… off.

“I'm happy you boys have friends, it must be nice to have someone who doesn’t know what it feels like,” Katie says, confusing me. Does she even know who The Awe- Andy Biersack is?
