Khalil POV
As we drove in the car back to Avaa's apartment I thought to ask her something.
"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to stay at my place?"
"Khalil," she sighed, "I told you I wasn't ready to move in with you just yet."
"No I know that, I was just saying spend the night with me...I want learn more about you and talk about our baby."
I have no idea why this girl was making me feel so shy, but I definitely needed to shake this shit. I saw her thinking about it from the corner of my eye.
"Sure, I just have to get some stuff from my place."
I just nodded and continued the drive towards her apartment. Thankfully it wasn't a very long drive.
"Are you coming up this time orr?" I heard her voice trail off.
"Yeah, I'll come up with you. Hold on, stay there." I told her and ran to get her door.
"Thank you" she said with a small smile.
Yeah I was polite and shit, my mom and pops raised me right. They always stressed the importance of treating a lady like a lady and nothing less. She led the way to her apartment while I followed behind her. We caught the elevator up to the 4th floor and got off. This place is ok, but my kid isn't staying here. I've got to think of a way to get her to move into my place soon, I thought as we walked the hallway to her door. Stopping in front of 4B, Avaa unlocked the door, but something made her jump back a little. I instantly went into protective mode and grabbed her, but she shook me off.
"Shit." I heard her whisper. "What are you two doing here? I told y'all to go down the hall!" she said, talking to two girls sitting on her couch watching movies.
"A, you know your TV is better than mine is!" said one of the girls.
"Takina, really?" Avaa said giving the Takina girl a look.
"Well, well, well, who do we have here?" the other girl said, turning her attention to me.
I looked over at Avaa not knowing what to say or do. Luckily she spoke for me.
"Alayna, Takina this is my date. His name is Khalil. I'm going to grab some things so please don't scare him." She turned her attention back to me, "that's my baby sister Alayna and bestfriend Takina, they don't bite I swear."
She walked up to me and assured me I'd be ok, but reminded my not to mention the baby. I nodded and watched her disappear into a room down the hall. I looked back at the girls and they were staring daggers into me.
"Uh, hey?" I said trying to start up conversation. They didn't respond, only continuing to stare. Finally, the one who I assume is Alayna, the sister because she looked so similar to Avaa said, "Sup" with a head nod.
"How was the date, what'd you two talk about?" the other girl asked, who I now know is named Takina.
"Well we talked about a lot of things, you know getting to know you things and our-." I quickly shut my mouth remembering what Avaa asked me to do.
"Are you two trying to scare him?" I heard Avaa call as she reemerged from the room down the hall with a duffle bag. I reached my hand out to grab it so she wouldn't have to carry it out to the car.
"Nooo of course not." Alayna said in the sweetest voice, you'd never know she just tried to intimidate me just a second ago. But Avaa must know her too well to believe that because she muttered back, "Yeah right."
