Khalil POV
Three weeks. Its been three whole weeks since me and Avaa have had sex or talked beyond the mundane. It has also been that long since the night I came home all beat up and lied about it to Avaa. The only communication we've had is simple hi's and byes and her redressing my wounds. I knew she was pissed at me about not telling the truth, at least now I do. When it first started, I had no idea why she was throwing me the cold shoulder, but on Thanksgiving I finally asked her what was up because we'd have both our families at the house. She told me and we managed to pull ourselves together for the day, but she went right back to ignoring me when everyone left. I felt like shit, but I wasn't ready for her to know that part of my life just yet. But today was Avaa's 19 week check up and we get to find out their genders and today was the day I was going to fix this mess, I don't want her to leave me nor do I want my kids in a co-parenting situation.
I walked back into the room and noticed that Avaa wasn't there. I wanted to talk before the appointment today, but my house search for her turned up nothing. She must've left without letting me know, which is something she's been doing a lot lately, so the talk would have to wait. I'd already let Jason know that I wouldn't make it into either office and he'd be running things all around today, so I took my time getting ready. After my shower, I put on some adidas sweat pants with a black adidas shirt and my black and gold adidas to match. I looked at myself in the mirror and brushed my waves being sure to put the oil in my hair that Avaa really likes and left. I was determined to fix this and tell her the truth, but first I had to get her something, I didn't want to show up to an apology empty handed.
Flowers would be nice, right?
I drove to the nearest flower shop and looked around. I was confused as hell, I didn't know what the hell to get her, we never even talked about flowers. I must've looked really lost because one of the florist came over to me,
"Do you need some help?"
"Uh yes, I do. I'm looking for some flowers for my girlfr- fiancé."
The lady chuckled a bit but asked if I knew what she liked, to which I replied no, so she asked me to describe her.
"Well she's beautiful, fierce and powerful...Oh and she's very passionate! You can see the fire in her eyes, but you can also see her strength and gracefulness. She's perfect quite honestly." I finished and looked over to see that the florist was already pulling flowers for a bouquet. The finished product consisted of a bunch of flowers I don't know the name of, but I think it's perfect for her. I paid and started for the door.
"Oh I almost forgot, I threw a card in there. You should read it, but I think you'll both like it."
I sat the huge bouquet down and opened the card, it read "You're perfect honestly." I looked back at her and thanked her because that was perfect. I left the store and headed straight to the grocery store because no apology is complete without pickles and peanut butter, its been her favorite pregnancy snack and I know that she likes to snack throughout the day but doesn't always have something. I also decided to grab hoagies as lunch for the both of us from her favorite corner store.
Once all items were acquired, I went to her office. It wasn't very close to her appointment time, so she'd definitely be surprised by my showing up. I parked outside of her office building and gathered everything in my arms then caught the elevator to her floor. I stepped off the elevator with my face covered by the flowers and walked to the front desk.
"Hey, is Avaa currently in with a patient?" I asked the girl behind the receptionists desk. She looked down at her computer screen and typed away. I assume she was checking her schedule for the day because she looked up and told me no and that she didn't have any appointments today. I looked at her weirdly, but just thanked for her help and walked toward Avaa's office. I lifted my hand to knock, but I heard voices talking so I stood there for a little. I knew it couldn't be one of her patients, so there was nothing illegal about listening.
