11) This Is For You

I still can't believe I'm going to Carter and Rebecca's wedding. If you told me five years ago my daughter and I would be going to Carter's wedding and I wasn't his bride I think I would have been too shocked to react. 

"Charlotte, are you ready," I yell at her from my room.

I am wearing a nice light blue colored dress, and right now I'm curling my hair and doing some natural makeup. The other day Charlotte and I went out to the mall and brought her a beautiful purple dress.

"Yes mommy," she yells back.

"We have to go so we won't be late," I say as I finish up my hair and makeup and start putting my shoes on.

Last night my emotions got the best of me which led me to write a letter explaining everything. I plan to give it to him before or after the wedding, I've been thinking and just because Carter doesn't remember the night, he deserves to know and have the option of whether he wants to be in her life or not. But my secret ends today Carter will know about our child and I am finally ready to tell him.

"I'm all ready mommy," she says doing a spin.

"You look beautiful Charlotte,"

"You girls have a good time and Emma everything will be okay I promise you're making the right decision," my mom says as I am putting the letter in my purse. 

"Thank you, mom bye I love you," I say grabbing Charlotte's hand.

"I love you guys too," she says closing the door.

As we are driving to the wedding we listened to some music because Charlotte likes to sing along she's obsessed with the Tangled soundtrack right now. It's so cute to listen to her sing along with the songs from the movie. As we pull up all I can think about is how beautiful it is here. Rebecca did an amazing job planning it all out. 

There are white flowers everywhere, it's an outside wedding and the reception is inside and all I can think is wow, it's gorgeous. I try to calm myself down because here goes everything, I know everything will be okay, but I'm still very nervous. Charlotte and I walk up to where everyone is standing and celebrating.

"Oh, my goodness is that you Emma," Carter's mom says as she sees me, she looks amazing it's been so long.

"Yes hi, Mrs. Wells I missed you so much," I ask her hugging her really tight.

"I missed you too honey, how have you been and who is this," she asks me.

"I've been doing really well and this is my daughter," I say and get Charlotte's hand a squeeze telling her it's okay.

"Hi, I'm Charlotte,"

"Nice to meet you Charlotte, I'm Mrs. Wells," 

"Oh my goodness I can't believe you have a daughter she's beautiful, are you married now too," she asks me looking between Charlotte and me. 

"Oh no I am not, she was conceived during my college years, nothing serious," I explain to her.

"Oh, I'm sorry Emma," 

"It's okay, it brought me the best person in the whole world," I say as I pick Charlotte up and carry her. 

"She is gorgeous and she looks just like you," 

"Thank you, but I was wondering Mrs. Wells do you know where Carter is I really need to speak with him," I ask her politely.

"Oh yes right in there sweetie it was nice to see you again and it was nice to meet you," she answers hugging me again and looking at Charlotte. Well, that went well.
