12) Carter's Letter

Emma's Note to Carter:

Dear Carter,

Hi Carter it's been a minute since we've talked. I know you're probably already on your honeymoon with Rebecca. But there's a secret that I've been hiding from you for about five years now. At your wedding, you met my daughter but she is also your daughter. Let me just start from the beginning, five years ago you threw me a going away party, do you remember that? A lot happened that night and honestly, I wouldn't change it for the world. You told me that you only remembered giving me my gift. But something else happened after that, Carter after you gave me my present you kissed me and I kissed you back. And after that first kiss, things got a little out of hand, and before I knew it we were taking each other's clothes off. I think you know what happened next so I don't need to explain it. But the next morning you didn't remember a thing and I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want our friendship to be ruined or you to act differently around me so I didn't think anything of it about not telling you. But about a month after I moved away I found out that a was pregnant. And I was going to tell you, really, one day I called you and I just got to the point, I blurted out that I was pregnant and that it was yours. But to my surprise it wasn't you who answered the phone, it was Rebecca. She had gotten to be very upset and threatened me and our baby saying she would do horrible things if I told you about me being pregnant. I was eighteen and pregnant I didn't want to risk it. So I stopped talking to you completely knowing that I was going to start showing and it was going to be harder lying to you and saying it was someone else's baby, that's the reason why I shut you out of my life and our child's. But my goodness she's wonderful Carter it was hard at the beginning looking at her, she has your eyes. I want you to know that you don't have to be in her life right now. But when she turns eighteen years old, she will have the option of whether to reach out or not. But you needed and deserve to know about her. With that being said Carter we have a child and her name is Charlotte Rosewell Sawyer. To be honest I wanted your last name to be hers but introducing her to people that knew me well would have been difficult. So her middle name is kind of for you. When I found out our baby was a girl, her middle name was going to be Rose. But I wanted something that symbolized your name. So Rosewell is for you because your last name is Wells, creative I know. But Carter, please don't visit us it would make things more complicated for you because you are married and all, I know this is a hard thing to go through. Here's my mail address *********** if you want to send letters to me or Charlotte whichever is easier. Carter, you will always be my best friend and my first love. Because I'm truly in love with you. Our child is not a mistake to me. She is smart, caring, and a beautiful little girl. Thank you for blessing me with her. Please try to understand why I didn't try and tell you for so long. Goodbye Carter I will not get in the way of your family with Rebecca anymore. I just want you to be happy. And if that's her then I'm so happy for you.
