CHAPTER 5

Well I wasn’t wrong about Tyler being in my English class, surprisingly. I knew that I had seen him somewhere.  He sat two seats in front of me in the row on my right. When I walked into class he was standing right by the door with his arms folded.

“So it seems we meet again,” he said with a sly smile on his face.

“Oh really! I didn’t notice!” I said sarcastically.

He laughed and gestured his hand to my desk. I blushed (again) and walked to my seat with him trailing behind me. Man, that guy could make me blush!

I sat down and pulled out my warm up. I was about to start out until Tyler pulled an empty desk up to mine.

“Do you mind?” he asked.

I shrugged. He grinned and pulled out a worn out black notebook from his binder. He was wearing a gray, zip up jacket with a white t-shirt. I’ll have to admit that he looked kinda cute in it. It went well with his brown, spiked at the front hair and blue eyes.

“So what’s the warm up?” he asked.

I looked up at the board. Describe your thoughts on life. What a great question…NOT. My look on life wasn’t the kind of answer my teacher Mrs. Stone would not want to hear. She would just say that we weren’t trying hard enough even though this was Honors English and we were juniors.

“It’s describe your thoughts on life.” I said.

Tyler stoked his chin.

“Well that’s an interesting topic,” he muttered. “You know, most people don’t have very good views on life. But even though it’s our own personal opinion Mrs. Stone won’t accept it. It’s like everyone is supposed to look at life in a good way. That is just lies wrapped in more lies.

“Tell me about it,” I mumbled.

“You’ve had some personal experiences with it then?” he asked mockingly.

“Something like that,”

            He grinned.

“I guess the way I see it is that if you’re good to life then life’s good to you back and vice versa. It can also seem like you’re doing the right thing when really you’re not and then life comes and bites your head off.” I said.

Tyler just looked at me perplexed.

“What?”

“Oh nothing,” he said. “That was just, beautiful! You should write it down.”

I could feel my face getting hot.

“I can’t believe I just told you that.” I moaned into my hands.

“What’s so bad about telling me that?” he asked.

“We barely know each other!” I exclaimed.

“We’ll have to change that then,” he said smiling at me.

I smiled back shyly.

“Mr. Murrey go sit down!” Mrs. Stone scolded.

Tyler rolled his eyes and went back to his seat. I then noticed a small sticky note on my binder that said ‘TYLER’S # 504-3692. I looked up and saw him staring back at me. He winked and then looked back down at his notebook.

After class Tyler walked me back to my locker.

“You know you really didn’t have to do that,” I said.

“Oh but I did,” he argued. “I have to be gentlemanly don’t you think?”

            “Sure, sure,” I laughed.

He then pointed to the sticky note on my binder.

“Seriously though, don’t be hesitant to call.” He said.

“Isn’t that a little soon though?” I asked.

“Not to me, you look like you need someone to talk to,” he replied.

As much as I was flattered I had that same sad feeling of knowing that I just couldn’t have what I wanted because it would tear the both of us down. I then got an even more gut wrenching feeling of knowing that there would be blood spilled because of this. And I can’t stop it.
