Have you ever seen fireflies flying in the night sky? Their yellow-amber like glow just drawing your attention and you keep staring at them as they fly from one place to another.
Their just insects, right?
Even Joshua thought like that, until he saw something that surprised him. In his trance-like state he followed the fireflies as they moved towards the river near his ‘home’.
He watched on in awe as he saw the fireflies, he was staring at, land on the river banks before letting out a blinding light, and when his eyes regained focus he didn’t see fireflies but people.
Each person was dressed in clothes that had the texture, and even the colours of leaves. He looks down at his dark attire and back to theirs. Instantly he knew, they weren’t the same as him, they were fairies.
Very few were able to see them in their natural form, and maybe though once by accident, never twice. As Joshua looks closer he sees light glitter-like particals moving behind them, their wings.
The mens’ wings ranged from shades of blue, green and yellow, while the womens’ wings ranged from shades of red, pink and purple.
One thing caught his eye, though they were all part of one species, they sat in their own groups. Something was different with one group, they sat further away from the other groups and around one fairy, almost like they were protecting or shielding her.
One of them moved and Joshua saw something that no one has ever talked about, or probably never seen. The fairy in the middle had two different sets of colored wings, the bottom pair was black and the top pair was white.
They were busy refulleling their waterbottles and even plucking some fruit from the surrounding area, before gathering in one big group again.
The fairies were all beginning to slowly glow and someone yells.” Kaia! Hurry, or we’re leaving you behind!”
Joshua feels a breeze blow past him and he sees the twin winged fairy run towards the group before they blind him again.Joshua stares at the fireflies as they fly away and to the forest that lies a few miles from his ‘home’. They past the first layer of leaves and then suddenly disappeared from his focus.
“Maybe having a further sight, isn't that bad after all.” He says to himself.

Then turning on his heal and heading back to the castle. Inside the castle he’s greeted by the gatekeepers and instead of walking into the castle he walks to the basement.
It might sound bad, but it gives him enough privacy to do as he likes. His mother might be the Queen of the castle, but he’s still a ‘bastard child.’
He’s the child that should have gotten the kingdom and castle on his 1700th birthday, but his Step-father had the power to change a pureblood royal into a filthy bastard and a bastard into a royal. That’s exactly what he did, he took his own bastard child and gave him Joshua’s title.

On the other side of the grounds Kaia sits on top of a branch, with her feet dangling off and swaying in the air. Maybe it was her imagination, but she thinks she saw someone watching them near the stream. Normally people would run to them to gather proof they still exited, but this time it was different.
This time the man wanted nothing and kept staring. Kaia jumps as someone touches her shoulder, it was her mother, Stara.
“Mom…” Kaia starts, but then changes her mind, knowing that her mother was super paranoid and also a chatterbox.
“Never mind. Let’s go to bed.” Kaia says and stand up taking her mother’s hand.
‘Maybe this is something that I have to keep to myself, just until I’m sure of what I saw’ Kaia thinks to herself as she looks at her mother, smiling slightly.
