Kaia wakes up from the bird tweeting outside her window. She sits up on bed and sees the sun starting to rise.
She moves the curtains away exposing more of the window and area around her.
She gets out of bed, walking as she feels the area, that had been a massive whole in her side a few years ago, start to pain.
Laying on one position for most of the night made her sore all over. She goes to the kitchen makes coffee and goes to sit on the porch.
She looks at the river a few meters beneath her and goes down using the self made elevator she builr. She goes to the river letting the rather warm water run over her toes.
As she sits down she thinks of the last few years of her life.
After Joshua had basically also thrown her out of his life, she woke up in the hospital, alone, heartbroken and terrified.
No one came to visit her, not even her own parents. She waited for the day she could be discharged.
Turns out she had been in a coma for nearly two years. She had asked the doctor to inform her of anything she needed to know.
Turns out a lot of thing changed. She had lost the baby she was carrying.
Her injury rendered it impossible for her to ever be able to have children again.
They had to replace almost all her organs on her right side and the injury damaged her hip so badly that she needs a crutch to help her walk.
To top it all off, Joshua remarried, even thought they never got a divorce, he was happily living with his wife and two children inside the castle.
She tried to go and talk to him but she was denied any entry into the castle, despite everyone knowing that they are still married
What hurts Kaia the most, is that she's happy for him. She can't seem to hate him, even after everything that's she's been through.
Getting up from the river Kaia sees the sun rising on the horizon and goes back to her house.
She sees both her and Joshua's rings hanging on a chain necklace near the door.
She smiles at how in love she was with Joshua. Even after finding out about his new marriage, she went and had something engraved on her own ring
'I'll never stop loving you, Joshua.'
She smiles at the ring one last time before getting dressed and going to work, like nothing happened
