Twilight (Short Story)

Chapter 7

🌳🌳

After Kaia ran away, everything had come to a stand still. When Brian regained his sense he felt something in his hand and words were ringing in his head.

"I was in love with you even before the engagement. Had I known you would break my heart like this, I never would have become your friend, much less agree to marry you. I loved you but now, I hate you."

"What the hell did you do?!" Adray comes into the office and starts to yell.

"She ran right past us, crying her eyes out! I even saw her mark disappearing!

"I wouldn't have wanted her to get hurt, she chose you!

"And just because she wanted to break out of one tradition you ousted her?!" Adray finishes yelling and runs outside, going after Kaia.

As Adray runs after Kaia, he could hear other running after him. He jumps up the same tree Kaia did and sees her in the distance, as the sun hadn't gone down completely.

He tries catching up but she was too far ahead. Even from this distance he could see her starting to fall, when suddenly she was falling.

He flew to the last place he thought he saw her, but everyone was starting to surround him until he couldn't remember where it was.

"What happened? Do you see her?" Brian's voice rings as he pushes through the crowd.

"Now you care! Where was your concern when you were busy kicking her out?!" Adray shouts as he throws a punch at Brian.

After a few minutes they were pulled apart by their fathers.

"Fighting over her is useless. She's no longer part of any clan and she won't return!" Brian's father shouts silencing almost everyone.

Brian rips free from his father, goes right for Adray and they both fly away searching for Kaia again.

It was reaching midnight and they still couldn't find Kaia. Brian was about to search further but Adray was saying that they needed to search during the day, since evrything looks the same at night.

Brian didn't want to but he had to, he knew that if they kept looking at night they might get lost themselves.

Brian returned home with a heavy heart as he ignored everyone and everything. He simoly sat in his room feeling sorry for himself.

Brian sat on his bed, staring at the ring he had given Kaia the day he confessed his feelings for her.

They were both quite awkward at first but within a few weeks everything returned to normal.

Then the night's events came to mind. He was angry  aggitated and heartbroken.

Finally he let out a scream throwing and breaking anything and everything in reach.

He leans against the door repeatedly hitting the bck of his head against the door as he lets the tears fall.

He kept on crying for what felt like an eternity. Until he just stopped, at that moment he felt nothing, nothing at all.
