Two

The next morning I get up with a groan. School.

I climb out of bed and do my hair into a messy bun. Then I put on my skirt and shirt; blazer and tie; before applying my Mascara and doing my other make-up

I walk out the front door about fifty minutes later; grabbing my phone from the counter as I pass it. I click it on; and a message appears from Will See you after school?

Me: What if I have homework?

Guitar boy: I'll do it for you.

I roll my eyes.

When I get to school; I walk in and see Cat and Tash sat on the bench. I smile when I see them. Tasha smiles back but Cat is straight in with questions.

"So?" She queries.
"So?" I ask back.
"What's next?"
"Oh my God." I say, "Stop."
"Stop what?"
"This."

"What?"
"There won't be anything else. Nothing's going to happen between us!"
"That's what they all say!"
"Shut up!" I tell her, "You're annoying me."

I'm walking out of school at the end of the day. A few metres ahead of me; the queen bee of the school, Cassie, is walking out. I see that the boys from the school are already lining the gates to greet her.

Cassie is swishing her hips and flicking her blonde hair as she strides. She's undone her shirt so it strains on her chest. Everyone is staring at her.

Cat, Tasha and I make our way through the crowds of boys. As I do so, I hear, "Sara!"

Will.

"Oh, urm, hey Will." I say, "Why are you here?"
"Do you have any homework?"
"Nope,"
"That's good." He says, "Because I wasn't intending on doing any."
"I'll know not to come to you then,"
"I was kidding," He says, "It anin't stopping me from seeing you."

Cat and Tasha nudge me, "We'll catch you later." They smile.

"No, wait, Cat, Tash..."
"Shh." Says Cat, and they walk away.

"Where shall we go?"

"Park? I need to show you something."

We walked a little way through the streets and Will smiles at me. I blush, "What?"

"Why are you so beautiful?"

My heart pounds inside my chest. He's talking to me but I can't comprehend it. It's making me nervous; but the feeling is nice.

"I'm really not,"

"You are." He says, "I had to tell you; because I didn't think you knew."

I look at Will. I smile and he smiles too. It's like suddenly I feel as though everything I ever thought about boys is draining from my mind.

"Come on." He says.

We sit on the bench and Will pulls something out his bag. He hands it to me. It is his CD. The cover is my photo; and on the back is a list of songs and Will smiles at me, "Pretty good huh?"

I nod, studying the case.

"I want you to listen to it,"
"Why?"
"I just do." He says, "Listen to it, tell me what you think and bring it back to me tomorrow."

"What if I don't see-...?"

He holds up his finger and puts it to my lips, signalling for me to shut up.

I get up and hug him, "I'd be honoured Will."

His arms were loose, but when I said that, they tightened. He was warm and comfortable and I put my head on his shoulders and we just sat there for a while.

Once we pulled back, Will smiles, "Hold on."

He runs to a nearby bush a pulls out a light brown guitar. "How long has that been in there?" I ask him

"Since this morning." He smiles, pulling it up and beginning to strum,

"I met this girl,

She has a beautiful smile,

Her eyes take me away,

And I just wanna say,

She means so much to me.

She's sat in front of me now.

And suddenly life feels better; somehow.

Now here me scream and say,

Please don't take this girl away,"

"So, Sara?"

It was the following morning. I was with Cat and Tasha in P.E when Cassie approaches me, "Are you coming to my party on Saturday, Sara?"

"I hadn't planned to," I replied. I had never been to Cassie's parties; I guess I'd never been interested. Nor had I been invited. "I wasn't aware I was allowed."

She sneers; then smiles through gritted teeth, "This is a welcome party. Start year ten with a bang, ay?"

"It's not exactly my thing," I say, "Sorry."
"No, you must come!" Cassie says, linking her arm through mine, "We have alcohol..."
"I don't drink,"
"Food."

"Nah."

She stares off into space, then looks at me again, "I was also wondering if you could invite your boyfriend?"
"What Boyfrien-...?" I start, but then Cat looks at me.

"You know who Sara!" She shouts

"Will?" I ask, "He's not my boyfriend."
"Well invite the boy-that's- not -your-boyfriend along," Cassie shouts, "Saturday, eight till late." She turns to Cat and Tash, "You guys are coming, right?"
"Sure we are," Says Cat, before Tash can say anything else.
"Great. See you Saturday,"

She flounces off. Cat waves.

"Are you insane?" Tasha hisses at her.
"I have always wanted to go to her parties." Says Cat, "The boys there are always lush."
"You have Mark."
"I was talking about Mark. He always goes."
"Okay, well, you go." I say, "I'm alright."
"Please come!" Cat begs, "It'll be so much fun!"
"I'm not sure." I say, "I don't get on with Cassie,"
"You could really hit off with Will," Says Cat,

"No."
"Please?"

Tasha looks from me to Cat then to me again, "I'll go," She says.

"You will?" I ask.
Tash nods, "I wanna see the 'amazing' Party for myself."
I sigh, "I'll go...."
"You will?" Cat is grinning,
"If Will does." I say
"Well, I kinda want him to say he doesn't. I guess it's because you know what Cassie's like..."
"Will's not like Tom yanno."
"Whatever." Cat says, "But be careful."
