Two hours....I've been spending two good hours looking for my stupid textbook.
"Where could it be?" I keep asking myself as I rummage through the room. My room is a very big mess right now.

"Juanita! What's keeping you up there? I'm already late for work. I don't have all the time in the world!"

Oh yes!

My oh-so-impatient mother has been yelling at me for about fifteen minutes now.

"I'm coming" I yell back. "Stop shouting before you break down this house. I won't find this book if you keep shouting at me" I grumpily mutter...low enough for my ears only of course

Can't I have my own peace in this house?

Few minutes later, I find the book under my bed, that I had checked at least five times in the last few minutes. I hurriedly run down to meet her.

"The next time you keep me waiting like this, you're taking public transportation to school"  My mum warns as she angrily walks out, me behind her.

The drive to school is quiet as usual, only the faint noise coming from the car's radio can be heard.

We finally arrive, as I begin to step out, she asks.
"Hope you have your launch with you?"
"Yes" I nod. "Bye, I'm already late"
With that, I step out and she drives off.

"Juanita, you're late" Mrs Sade our principal, in all her fatness, stood in front of me, obstructing my only escape route.
"Good day ma"

"Why are you late?"

"I--"
"Never mind. Go to class..."

Wow! No punishment for me..

"...meet me in my office later."

Never mind I said that. There's always a punishment for late coming.
With that, I scurry off to class.

One hour, twenty five minutes later of the boring lecture, the teacher finally left.
"Juanita! You will not believe what happened today" my best friend Sophia says, as she jumps to my sit.
Sophia has always been the news broadcaster, my favorite gossiper and friend.
"What happened?" I sit up, my ears already jerking at the mention of gist.

"You remember Mr Gerald? The new English teacher, the tall fair guy that--"

"I remember him. What happened to him?" I ask.

"You remember I told you I like him right?" She smiles shyly.

"God! Sophia, go straight to the point!" I frown.

"Hmm" she clears her throat as she adjusts. "he talked to me today"

I smile "and??" I anxiously ask.

"Nothing much, he saw me struggling with my computer science project this morning, and he assisted me! Can you imagine? He actually assisted me" she fans herself with her hand, acting like she's about to faint.
