Cassandra's POV
The door swings open and Juanita walks in, her eyes settling on me
Okay....here goes nothing.
"Uhm...I hope you don't mind, I just wanted to know how you're d-"
"Thank you" she abruptly stops talking, her eyes widen. "I never thought I will ever say this to you, but, if it weren't for you, Lord knows where I would have been by now." I finish, but she just stands there like a dumbfounded puppy.
"What?" I shrug. "I already appreciated you right? If you're waiting for another appreciation, jokes on you, because I'm not repeating myself"
She wakes up from her reverie before she breaks into giggles.
"What? Did I say something funny?"
I knew it, being nice is not my thing.
"You never cease to surprise me. Even when you're on your sickbed, you still find a way to be sassy"
I scoff, crossing my arms.
"How're you though?" she asks.
"Aside from the cuts and bruises, I'm feeling better." I reply.
"What really happened Cassandra"
"I..."
Be nice...
"I don't think I owe you an explanation"
"What I still don't understand is why you would want to kill yourself just when you and Daniel got back together. That's what you've always wanted right?"
"Back together?" I laugh. A genuine laugh. "What makes you think we got back together in the first place?"
"Err...I mean...I saw you two kissing....in a dim classroom in school?"
"Were you spying on us?"
Now I'm getting offended.
"Oh no! I wasn't. I just happened to see you two, by mistake"
"Hmm.."
I stay silent for some time.
"Daniel doesn't like me. If you must know, I was the one who kissed him against his will. Juanita...do you uh....do you love me?" I say under my breath, but I'm sure she heard.
"Even though you're a pain in the ass, I do love you after all"
"If you love me as you claim, you would do just one favor. Would you do me a favor?" I ask, with sad eyes.
"What is it?"
"Please Juanita, leave Daniel for me" she opens her mouth to protest.
"You have Melvin, who loves you, you have your friends, Sophia and Kharo. I have only Daniel. Please, just let him go. I know you two aren't dating or anything, but please just make it clear to him that you don't see a future with him, that you're not interested. Please Juanita this is the first time I'm begging you for something."
"It's not that easy Cassandra"
"Do you feel attracted to him?"
"I don't know-"
"Then why waste his time? If you're not sure, why don't you let him be with another person who is sure about what she feels?" I ask, irritated.
