29: Be There

Later that night...

10:08 p.m.

Ace leaned up against the wall hoping that the flashbacks he'd been having lately would stop occurring. He'd been having them for the last couple of months now and he knew it was because it was close to Bianca's due date. He was about to bring another baby into the world with a second woman knowing what had happened to his first. She'd gotten addicted to drugs and he'd had to place her in rehab only for her to check herself out.

He hadn't told Bianca about the flashbacks because he didn't want to worry her and because he'd be forced to talk about the past. He'd gone for a drive tonight to clear his head. Regret was hitting him harder than ever right now. He had many of them and he didn't know what he was supposed to do. He was about to go into his bedroom to lay with his woman but found himself turning around heading down the hallway to a guest room. He just needed to be alone for a minute. Taking off his jacket he got into bed laying flat on his back staring up at the ceiling.

"Listen I know I've made some mistakes Jayceon and I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I...that I left you and that I left my daughter. I can admit that I was stupid for checking out of rehab when you got me in it but baby I wasn't ready for me. I thought I was but I only did it because you told me I had to or I wouldn't be allowed in Skye's life." Raven said to Ace. "I'm clean now though and I have a job and my own house. I'm ready to be in my daughter's life and I was hoping that we could work something out."

"You think that just because you're clean now that shit is gonna be that easy?" He frowned staring at her.

She looked down at the floor avoiding his stares. "No." She said lowly.

"My daughter is fucking three years old now Raven and now you wanna—" He stopped talking and clenched his jaw clasping his hands together as his leg bounced up and down.

"Jay..." Her eyes watered as she leaned over the table placing her hand on his cheek and he moved his head.

"Don't put ya goddamn hand on me Raven." He told her.

"I still love you and I know I was wrong but baby you have no idea how stressful it was being with...with a man who was gone all of the time. I was losing my mind in that house raising a small baby and...and I just couldn't handle it. Drugs became my go to. But I...I'm stronger now and I'm gonna be a better partner to you and a mother to my child if you'll allow me to be. If you still want me." She told him.

Ace looked her in her eyes from across the table and without blinking he said "I don't want a goddamn thing but for you to not contact me again and not speak about my child. You failed Raven. You had your chance. Skye is good now. She's good with me. Look I'll pay you to sign your rights over and to disappear but I can't. I can't let you back into her life. Ever."
