I stood outside the cabin and watched as Cassia's and Eden's figure grew smaller and smaller as they walked on into the direction of the city. Cassia had said she needed to get some supplies and Eden offered to accompany her in the city.

I bit my lip and tucked my hands into the pockets of my tracksuit, resisting the urge to join them. Some days I wished I wasn't so distant from the buzz of the city, I wished to be in the buzz and I longed to explore the world outside of the forest. Some people might say the city life is a burden, but all I wished was for that burden to weigh down my shoulders. I wanted to explore, to travel the world, to experience life with all its possibilities. I wanted to escape the world that I was trapped in and explore a new one. I wanted to live.

I dragged my feet back inside the cabin and sighed. Sadly, that world was not meant for me and I had to live in the one that trapped me inside itself.

Walking slowly up the stairs, I stumbled over a loose nail. I looked back and noticed that a plank of wood had come loose.

Peeking from under the wood, I noticed a black box.

I pulled the box out and rubbed the top as it was covered in dust.

The top read Teddy.

My brows furrowed and I opened the box. Hidden inside the box where old fragments of paper. Some of them were torn around the edges and others were covered in dirt and torn right across.

I pulled the top one out and a man with emerald green eyes stared back at me. His inky black hair was cut short and his eyes danced with joy and happiness. There were wrinkles at the side of his eyes and his head was thrown back with laughter.

There was a girl that rested on the man's shoulders who held firmly onto his head. She had short, light brown hair and large electric blue eyes. The girl was young and her face was lit up with laughter.

I smiled sadly at the happiness in the photo that radiated from the girl and the man. I turned the picture around and noticed a letter hastily scribbled onto it.

Dear Teddy

If you're reading this, The Blaze has probably killed me, but you're safe with Cassia. When I found out about the power you possess, I vowed to protect you and help you escape the mess I've created.

I want you to know how much you mean to me, Teddy. You taught me what it feels like to love someone so dearly that you can't and will never let them go. But I had to let you go so that you could begin a new life away from me, away from the mess I attract. You showed me the exhilaration that comes with life and being a father. You taught me the meaning of a family and what it feels like to worry about someone else.

Teddy, you have to be careful. The power you possess is so great that it is not even understood by the Elders. The same power is the power that The Blaze is hungry for and they will stop at nothing to take control of that power, to take control of you. But you must not give in to them, you must fight, even if it's the last thing you do for you are our only salvation. You are the only one who can save us. But you are also the one who can destroy everything, you can destroy all the worlds. You have the power to start and end war at once. The prophecies referred to you as The Last Theiro.

Should killing ever be fun...stop. Leave it to another with deeper spiritual roots. Life is sacred, and without that, we would be vain people with no feelings, the monsters.
