Eden

"Primus? No, that doesn't make sense."

Marcus lifted his head from the ground and grinned at me. "All your questions will be answered when we get back to Murk."

I crinkled my nose and stepped away from Marcus. "What are you talking about?"

"The vampire council waits for your presence on Murk. They sent me to take you there."

"I'm not coming with you." I shook my head and turned my back on Marcus.

"You don't have a choice. I'm sorry, Primus."

Short muscular arms wrapped themselves around my body and I squirmed in Marcus's firm grasp.

"Let me go," I said through gritted teeth.

"You'll be grateful for my service, Primus."

And he jumped up from the ground, flying through the portal with red lightning and we stumbled into a dark room.

"Finally." A voice came from the corner of the room.

Marcus's arms unwrapped themselves from around me and I glared at him.

"Take me back to Insipid."

"I'm afraid we can't do that, Eden." A voice announced and Claude stepped out from the dark corner. "Welcome to Murk." He grinned at me.

"Claude!" Marcus gasped. "Don't be disrespectful! You can't call him by his name, his our Primus."

Claude waved his hand. "He doesn't even know of the power that comes with being a Primus so why should I respect him?"

Marcus stalked over to his older brother and leaned into his ear, whispering something. Claude scolded and pushed Marcus away.

"Can someone please tell me why I'm here?" I stood awkwardly in the middle of the darkly lit room and glared angrily at the two vampires who stood in front of me.

They peered at me and then proceeded back to their conversation.

"Dad said they are going to be a bit late," Marcus said lowly.

Claude jarred his teeth and pointed in my direction. "So we have to stay and look after little miss pathetic?"

"You know I'm a boy, right?"

His eyes flickered to me. "Yes I know, little miss pathetic."

Marcus swatted his brother's arm. "Stop it!" He warned him.

Claude turned to me and grinned. "The vampire council wishes to meet you. And you should be afraid, little miss perfect."

I pressed my tongue to the back of my teeth to prevent any sound from escaping my lips and focused on the darkroom before me.

The room had no windows and I could make out the candles inside the room. Claude waved his hand to light the candle and the flames flickered brightly. There had to be over a hundred candles lining the walls. Once I realized what was inside the room, I began snuffing them out.
