Sabrina's P.O.V.-Greendale Baseball Field-Tuesday Afternoon, Afterschool
Everyone was sitting on the bleachers, watching a baseball game. Baseball season should've already been over, especially since the winter season is approaching, but due to most of the wrestling team still needing to recover from the try-outs, mainly whatever Sabrina did to them, the season was extended.
"Go Sabrina! Whoo! She can do it, she can do it! Rah rah rah! Whoo!" Quigley cheered as Sabrina, fielding second base, felt embarrassed by Quigley's cheers.
"Make him stop yelling. Make him stop yelling!" Sabrina muttered under her cap, trying hard to hide her face. Sure, it's a good thing Quigley is trying to make amends for his...actions so far, but he is too eager to fix those mistakes.
The pitcher, who is filling in for Harvey due to...things, threw the ball. However, the batter managed to hit the ball, causing to to streak past.
"Whoo hoo! Run!" Gem shouted to the batter, grinning like it's shopping day at the mall. How she managed to be part of baseball, nobody knows.
The other members of Sabrina's team tried to grab the ball, but they failed, as the batter was running around the bases.
"Watch out for..." Sabrina began to warn three players, who went to grab the ball, only to collide with each other. "...each other," Sabrina concluded, putting her face in her hands.
"Nice try, Stinkbrina. We won again. 41 to zip. Maybe you and the nerd herd should ride back to Dork Town." Gem mocked as she and her team laughed at Sabrina, whose face turned red from anger.
Ten Minutes Later
"Is it too much to ask to be captain of a winning team for once?" Sabrina asked Quigley, as the two walked towards their house.
"Well, at least you're having fun." Quigley said.
"Fun? You called getting beaten by that brat we call Gem fun?!" Sabrina asked in disbelief.
"Um, okay, maybe you didn't have fun, but I did, cheering you on." Quigley said.
"That, and you like having big, foamy fingers." Sabrina points out.
"Guilty as charged!" Quigley said shamelessly.
"Glad someone admits it," Sabrina said.
"Sabrina, don't you think you're getting caught up in winning for the sake of winning? After all, isn't playing sports mainly about doing your best, not about who has the higher score?" Quigley asked.
"When it involves Gem: no. When it has nothing to do with her: yes." Sabrina answered. "Especially since she thinks her team is sooooo 'great'," she added.
"Sabrina, I'm sure, and I know you're sure as well, that your team is better than Gem's in ways she can't fathom, with different strengths. As team captain, it's your job to find those strengths and use them." Quigley pointed out.
"Besides leading the league in tripping, dropping and whipping? I mean, come on, Quigley. It's not the fact that I'm not having fun with my team, it's just the fact they're not confident enough for any games or practice sessions. Then again, after what happened on Friday, who would?" Sabrina asked, listing off a few incidents during the extended season.
"Look, Sabrina, I'm not going to deny everything that happened on Friday. But this is one of the reasons why the baseball season was extended: to try and keep everyone's minds off it. Just keep your head up, and your foam finger high!" Quigley said, accidentally throwing his foam finger, which he chased after.
