Samandriel dreamt of his mom that night. She was looking at the stars, Samandriel sitting beside her silently. She pointed to a star in the night sky.
"You see that star? The brightest one in the sky?" she asked and Samandriel nodded. "Do you think, that just because he's different, the other stars hate him?" she smiled at Samandriel softly and he shook his head.

This wasn't a dream. This was a memory.

"I believe that you are different, and because of that, people feel the need to change you, to make you more like them. You are unique, Samandriel. Don't forget that, okay?"

Samandriel nodded.

No! He cried silently in his head. Get out of here, get out now! Wake up, Samandriel, wake up. He knew what was coming next.

"I have something to tell you," she smiled, tears invading her blue eyes. "I'm sick, Samandriel. The doctors say I don't have long. But don't cry, my love, I want you to keep your imagination still, even when I'm gone."

Samandriel looked up at her, tears invading his pretty blue-green eyes.

"No, honey, don't cry," his mother whispered and a tear slipped down his cheek.

Wake up, wake up, wake up! I don't want to be here.

Suddenly, his dream changed. He knew where he was.

No, god, please no.

"Don't cry, Samandriel," his mother whispered to him. "Keep your sense of imagination. For me?" she said and a tear fell onto his cheek, others soon following. "No, no, don't cry. I don't want you to cry." She placed a hand on his cheek, catching his tears as they fell. They were the only two in the hospital room. "I love you," she whispered.

"I love you too-"

The heart monitor blared at him, screamed at him as he stared at the green line across the black screen. He closed his eyes, he didn't want to see the monster on the machine. He fell to the ground, covering his ears, shielding himself from hearing the monster scream at him, telling him that he should've been a better son, should've never lied ever. Now, his mother was gone and there was a monster in his chest, gnawing at his heart every time he thought of his mother, and everyday, the monster got stronger, willing him to jump from that bridge.

He heard his brothers rush in-

Samandriel sat up, before running to the bathroom attatched to his room and throwing up in the toilet. He hated nightmares, and every time he woke up from one, he puked.

He's not even sure how he still had something in his stomach, he hasn't eaten in two days.

He sighed, sitting against the cabinets as he closed his eyes and tried not to think about his dream. Too late. It rushed back into his head and little tears ran down his cheeks. He hasn't dreamt about his mom in weeks.
He wiped his cheeks, before standing up and brushing his teeth, looking at the clock on the bathroom counter.

Might as well start getting ready.

He walking back into his room, pulling out a random sweater and some jeans before throwing them on. He ran his fingers through his hair while looking in the mirror.

He looked away before he could prod his flaws anymore.

Adam was about to be late to his first period, when he saw a black haired boy push the stuff out of a smaller boys hands, his papers scattering. Adam walked towards him, bending down to help him.
