When the apocalypse virus hit humanity, everything dissolved into pure and utter chaos. Creatures of the night, creatures once believed to be nothing more than myth, appeared from the shadows to take control of the world by force.

Heart beating with exhilaration, your feet skimmed just above the forest floor, long waves of hair flowing behind your back as you ran.
Several meters ahead ran the pack, their bodies cutting through the trees with a certain grace that you couldn't help but grin at. Though you yourself didn't have the sharp claws or teeth the wolves possessed, you still enjoyed running with the pack, watching with elation and pride as the animals you'd come to love over the past few years cleanly made their kill.
Leading the pack, his silvery pelt shining in the diminishing sunlight, was Eeriuffi. Muscles rippled beneath his coat as he trailed gracefully through the winding trees and greenery, yellow eyes trained on the deer before him.
Eeriuffi, you thought, smiling at the thought of the wolf you had named. Eeriuffi had been the one who started your new life, the wolf who had shown you to his pack that fateful night. It was because of him that you no longer slept alone, that you no longer wandered in solitude.
The wolves had given you a purpose; while far from human, they had become like a family to you. Without them, you weren't too sure how your life would have turned out, alone and practically defenseless in the middle of such a massive forest.
In a way, despite how ridiculous it sounded, you owed your life to Eeriuffi.
Your eyes followed Eeriuffi as his growl rang through the air, his paws hitting the earth directly behind the deer. With a snarl, he slammed his heavy paws into the deer's hindquarters, and with a high-pitched noise, the deer stumbled.
Their barks echoing throughout the air, the rest of the pack soon followed, teeth and claws ripping at the deer in a quick, deadly move.
Within an instant, the deer collapsed in a heap, eyes glazed over as its life left its body. As you caught up to the rest of the pack, Eeriuffi looked up at you, tongue lolling out of his mouth. Breathing heavily in order to regain your breath, you reached a hand out and stroked the spot between his ears. You could almost swear it looked like he was smiling.
As you grabbed some of the wood you stored in your bag to set a fire, the wolves began to dig in to their prey, and one of the female wolves, who you called Louve, grabbed a chunk of meat from the deer, placing it before you.
A faint summer breeze rustled the trees every so slightly.
Freedom.
