Oshino Village, Japan
Morning, as it would turn out, came far quicker than you had anticipated.
Throughout the entire night, you had slunk among the shadows, gradually making your way to back towards society. Even though each step brought you further away from the pack, you could still feel their presence, almost as if they were keeping you safe.
As you looked up into the sky, you noticed the darkness slowly beginning to yield to light. The star-brimmed stratosphere slowly became illuminated by the sheer brilliance of the sun. You would, under normal circumstances, simply stop and watch in awe, but this wasn't the appropriate time. After all, there was no telling what, or who could be wandering about.
Not too long ago, when the darkness still held you in its embrace, you had entered the remains of what you believed must have once been a quaint, tiny village. While it was still beautiful, it was obvious that the lack of civilians took a toll. Stalls, once for selling goods, were turned over and broken apart by years of neglect. A good portion of the buildings looked as if they were half-weathered away, and the surrounding pools of water seemed ominously still.
There was something so eerie about this village and how empty it was. When you had ran away to Aokigahara several years back, there had at least been some signs of life in the cities you had been to. In this village, however, there was absolutely nothing. Nothing.
It scared you.
Despite how empty the village appeared, you decided to remain cautious. You made your way between the buildings, sticking close to the shadows, just in case anyone happened to be near. After the incident in the forest, you knew better than to be careless. After all, anyone could be anywhere.
You weren't quite sure where you were walking; all you knew was that you had to be cautious and that wherever you were going would hopefully lead you closer to the more densely-populated parts of Japan, where you would hopefully find other survivors.
However, through your uncertainty, one thing became very clear to you; the distant click of footsteps on the solid, stony earth of the village.
In a blind panic, your threw yourself against the nearest wall, scuffling as close to it as humanly possible. Your eyes wide and ears alert, you waited to see what would happen next.
"Remind me, Crowley," you heard a sickly sweet voice say, "Why are we here again?" You felt chills run down your spine at the man's voice; something about it just didn't sit right with you.
For a moment, silence. You tightly held a hand to your mouth, praying that it helped to cover up the sound of your rapid breathing.
"I could have sworn I saw something coming towards here not too long ago. I must have been seeing things. At least we got to take a quick detour before going back to Tokyo, eh?"
