The silence hanging in the air was almost deafening.

Despite it being summer, a chill seemed to run throughout Nagoya, somewhat ominous and a warning to those who wandered near.

After all, not too far away, a monster lingered within the shadows.

Scarlet eyes glanced nonchalantly over a stack of papers, occasional hums making their way past their master's lips. A soft light entered the room, but any harsh rays of sun dared not show their faces; instead, they settled on renaming trapped behind grey, billowing clouds, unnoticed by those who wandered the earth bellow.

Sitting at his desk, feet outstretched and resting upon the mahogany, was none other than Crowley Eusford. As he further reclined in his chair, an almost exasperated expression overtook his features, and he let out a sigh.

As of late, things had gotten to be so unbelievably dull. Rarely had there been any trouble with the humans, and the humans that did manage to stir up any trouble were terribly bland. Crowley craved for some kind of entertainment. He had been rather deprived of it lately, and it was beginning to get to him.

Letting out another deep sigh, he placed the stack of papers upon his desk, not bothering to finish reading through the rest of them. He had grown quite bored of sifting through the seemingly endless pile, and told himself that he deserved a small break from the tedious work.

Eyes somewhat glazed over, Crowley turned his gaze to the ceiling, completely unperturbed by anything else that may have been troubling him. He sat like that for several minutes, fingers periodically tapping the arm of his chair, until a distant noise caught his attention.

A deep hum reverberating in his chest, Crowley stood up, making his way towards the nearest window. His eyes scanned the empty terrain before him, wondering just what made the noise until they landed on the small form of an animal of some sorts.

Sharp, triangular ears were upright and alert, and a sleek, silvery coat of fur covered the creature's form. Crowley watched as the animal barked at what he thought to be a squirrel, its tail flying back-and-forth in excitement.

A dog. Just another dog, Crowley told himself as he watched it give chase to whatever creature it had been barking at, graceful form trailing over the earth. Dogs weren't too uncommon; those whose owners had died in the virus often times found other dogs, traveling across Japan and continuing to reproduce.

However, something about this dog kept Crowley's attention. The reason why evaded his mind for a a few moments, until he suddenly remembered why.

This dog looked very similar to a wolf.

In the not-so-distant past, he had come across a rather curious human in the woods, who had lived among a pack of them. As he watched the dog run into the distance, he couldn't help but be reminded of her, and the similar way she had run after her wolf companion before they met face-to-face.
