The next day we needed all the help we could get, so nobody stayed at home, even to watch Vincent. We hid him in the safe house we built underground incase of inadvertent attacks. At noon we left the house in two trucks, when we got there the creatures we saw the previous day standing on the runway had multiplied in number. Omawunmi who was our best sniper took a higher vantage point accompanied by Ubokabasi an outstanding marksman himself. Udeme and his wife created a decoy while Kingsley, Abubakar and Rashid waited at the entrance of the airport in case hostiles tried to cut off their escape. The stage was set, now we were just sitting ducks waiting for the sound of a plane or a call. Earlier on i called Aso Rock to inform them of our findings and where they would land and take off without infringements. At 15:55 we heard the sound of a plane coming from a distance then my Satcom rang.
'Major! This is colonel Akpan, we're six minutes out, clear that runway now.'
'Yes sir.' I replied 'Everyone get in position, Omawunmi take the four stars on your 1'o clock, Ubokabasi the rest are yours.' I ordered.
Immediately Omawunmi took the first shot, all hell broke loose. The plane was in sight but it wasn't air force one; apparently they thought it wise to send a smaller plane for easy landing and take off.'Are you guys ready?' I asked looking at my kids
'Yes daddy.' They chorused
'Move with me and keep your head down, this is not a drill, if you see a threat eliminate it.' I charged them.
'Dad I know you're worried but we're not going to die today, relax.' Mmaette said with a smirk
Udeme and his wife created the diversion causing the rest to chase them. We ran to the runway just when the plane was about to touch down but one of the stars spotted us and called the attention of the others. Omawunmi and Ubokabasi killed most of them but they were too many, I ordered the kids to board the plane while I released the humans they kept in chains. They picked up tools and charged towards the stars giving us enough time to take off. I radioed Udeme to get everyone out of the airport, just then we taxied down the runway and took off. I radioed to confirm they had left the airport, Omawunmi said they had just driven out of the gate. The colonel came to formally introduce himself and brief me on what to expect once we got the Aso Rock.
