We opened fire but our bullets seemed like cotton balls thrown on iron surfaces. They were five in number and each of them was about 6'7 feet, their faces were human but they had scaly skins and eyeballs like owls. The creatures immediately charged in our direction fiercely.

'Finally! I thought they'd never ask.' I smirked pulling out my pocket knife. I charged towards them with my men following closely behind. Jumping about 3 feet in the air I tried to bury my knife into the head of the closest creature but it decked me in the chest like a bully picking on a wuss.

'Mmabasi! Dear God!' Vincent exclaimed. I managed to pick myself up as the creature came closer, the others that followed stopped chasing and waited--it was like they wanted me to fight their comrade. Each time the captains tried to get involved while I got beat up they would release a sonorous sound as a warning.

'Sah I don't think they want us to get involved.' Udeme said

'Well don't, just keep your eyes on them.'
The fight lasted a couple of minutes before I successfully dug my knife deep into the creatures groin, it fell backwards with a thud. Rather than attacking as we expected the rest to do they just carried the dead comrade and fled down the street till the fumes from a burning house covered them.

'That was all it took? Death by castration. How is it even possible to have only one weak point and it happens to be your penis?' Vincent laughed

'Must you always prove stupid all the time' Udeme asked

'What were those things?' Mrs. Ntekim asked slowly stepping out of the car

'I don't know.' Udeme answered

'Sah did the good book say anything about this?' Vincent asked bending over the liquid that came out of the creature to smell it.

'Right now, I really can't think.'

'Dad please can we go?' Udoette asked frightened

'Yes we're leaving now.' I said reassuringly 'Let's move out, I need to figure out what we just fought, although I have a hunch.'

'What's your hunch sir?' Mrs. Ntekim asked

'Well I think we just fought fallen stars.'

Silence became the order of the rest of the evening. When we got home, I decided to make a note of everything that is happening and would happen; somehow I felt the need to document our encounters. I began;

When you think it's over and life has nothing left to throw at you, well it takes a u-turn and gives you shit for breakfast. Today I lost my wife and best friend to my kids, I lost friends and loved ones and we almost lost our lives to fallen stars. I don't even know what tomorrow will bring, my kids are scared to the brow--they literally can't go to toilet. I have studied the good book to see what comes next and I realized this is just the beginning. But I was born to survive so there's no giving up now, my kids need me, so if anyone gets to read this I want you to know this is just the prologue.
