Chapter Eleven - My Fate

The high dosage of blood being withdrew from my body causes me to get dizzy. It sends a rushing wave of pain to my head. I just want it to end.

D visits me every day. (How romantic... right? Wrong) It is torture, firstly having him stare at my naked body for hours on end, secondly he is free, I am not. I envy him. I have passed out a few times from the cold. They want us to stay awake though, so when we pass out they raise the temperature of the water.

Just cold enough to slow down actions of the body, but just warm enough to keep us from going into hypothermia and dying.

When D visits he holds up on his hand how many days I have left. I should be done tomorrow. That will be seven days.

D has a muscular build, he is handsome and he is kind. I'm guessing he's around 19 years old. Meaning he is sterile. Any hopes he has of having children of his own, will die along with all of us patients.

Yes, I do think we are all going to die. Welcome to the end of the fucking world, by Chloe Kay.

I passed out again.

When I wake up I notice D is gone. Did he know I passed out, does he think I am dead?

He wouldn't just watch me die would he?

What have I become? A few minutes with the first guy to show romantic interest in me, I'm completely obsessed with.

A loud buzz echoes throughout the room, water begins to drain from the tank. Was I really out for a day?

The water continues to drain, each inch of skin it exposes the warmer the air becomes. I don't lift my arms or make any sudden movements because I noticed there are cameras in here. That is why D had to secretly put a number on his hand.

When the water is completely drained from the tank, I begin to sweat. It is so unexplainably hot in this room. A line of guards and doctors file into the room. The platform my feet are tied to lifts up.

When I reach the top D is already there, unbuckling the strap around my ankles. He wraps his arms around both of mine in order to steady me. I fall completely limp. My legs don't work.

He lifts me into his arms and carries me down the lift. I notice others are doing the same so I relax a little.

His body is so warm, it feels nice. But makes me sweat at the same time. He carries me out of the room and into a different one. This room is completely vacant.

He lies me on the hospital bed and locks the door. I close my eyes and begin to drift off when I feel a fabric drape over me. I open my eyes and see him, standing above me. He covered me with a sheet, not for warmth, but privacy.

"In a few minutes you will be analyzed by a medical professional. They will tell you your final results of the tank. If they declare you a blood donator they will immediately take you to the other side of the compound. If they declare you a reproductive patient I will escort you to the room where you will meet your future mate."

His authoritative tone tells me there are cameras in here. I stay still on the table. Unsure what the other patients are doing.

After a few minutes of silence a key opens the door and a doctor walks in. "Patient Zero, Chloe, how are you doing?" I freeze, unsure if I am supposed to answer or not.

"She may still be having effects from the drug, Chloe can you hear me?" D asks, he winks at me.

"Y-yes, sorry, I'm s-still in shock." I reply.

"I am Dr. Torino, what do you remember from the past 7 days?"

"N-not much, my memory is very vague." I studder. Hoping it is the right answer.

"This is completely normal Chloe, you underwent an experiment to determine how we could best use you towards a cure, you have been selected to be..." He flips through his papers. My heart is pounding.

The blood donators get all of their blood removed, they will suffer inevitable death. The few reproductive patients are forced to mate with other patients, they suffer inevitable imprisonment.

"Oh! I found it!" He exclaims.

"You have been selected to be a..."
