After breakfast I go back to my room and start a list of employees, I don't know many of their names, I'll have to add more to the list throughout the day. I bring the notepad with me to line up.
The employees try to keep us away from the other patients staying here. The other patients envy us, we get more free time. Whilst they have to be doing something all of the time. I politely ask the employees their names. Each gives them to me and I begin to form a decent sized list.
I can cross off most of the names since they either don't have access to my room, or don't match the hand writing on the sticky notes. It feels good to be doing something productive for once. Even if it is finding a possible secret admirer.
After awhile I begin to put together a list of possible candidates, then I think. They signed D on the sticky note. So I eliminate all the names that don't start with D, in their first or last name..
I am left with no names....
I accept my crumbling defeat and head back to my chambers. I scan the walls for any new sticky notes. There is nothing.
Finally I decide I am going to wait here until they come back. That way I can see exactly who it is. Though it will probably work, I'm going to have to skip lunch.
I do it anyways.
~~~
I'm ready to give up after only 30 minutes. What if they don't ever come back? What if they were messing with me?
I think back to when I saw my friends in a tank full of water. Helpless. I need to find D, they are my last hope of getting my friends back alive.
I advise a plan for tonight. I will find out who they are.
~~~
I close my eyes and slow my breathing to a sleeping pace. The door creaks open, then back to only a crack. I hear the footsteps trail away from my door.
I have 15 minutes.
I hurry to the door, peek out and then run down the hallway. The security room is closed. I can hear someone inside! I scurry around the hallway and into the staff lounge. It is empty.
I need to create a diversion.
I ruffle through some belongings on the table, chap stick, papers, tape, pens, scissors. I see a bag on the floor. I rummage through the bag, finding items I have never seen before. A tube-like object with a button and a opening at the top. I press the button. A flame erupts from the opening.
I remember something happening a few years ago. They called it a fire, spickets from the ceiling sprayed water down below and everyone was forced to go into a safe room.
I have an idea.
I grab the lighter from the bag, tape, and paper from the table and walk into the hallway. I go back down the way I came, turn around the corner, walk past the security room and towards the vacant receptionist desk. I stand on the desk, tape the piece of paper to the ceiling.
I pause for a minute, making sure no one is coming.
Then I light the paper on fire.
