He was terrifying. Though Wei Ying was not entirely certain if it was just him being insane and ridiculous. Yet, he still felt that shock of fear fly through his veins, shaking him to his core, whenever Lan Wangji looked at him. There was just...something about him. Those eyes seemed to pierce through his soul, and stare right through him as though he were being judged, though for what he was not certain. He could not be certain of anything. Though he was not entirely certain what it was that made the other so utterly terrifying to him, he was sure it had something to do with his...his eyes. The so unnerving eyes that seemed to strip him completely bare of all hidden defenses.
He had never really felt fearful of someone before. This feeling was new to him, and even though the horrible things that he had gone through with the Jiang Sect, and the awful things that people had done to him, he had not felt fearful of anyone before. Things, yes, of course, he had been fearful of dogs. They were forever his weakness. Dogs were his mortal enemy and would remain as such for a long while into the future, and his fear was cultivated long before the Jiang sect had taken him from the Wen Clan. Nobody could deny, the Wen Dogs were absolutely horrifying. The number of times that he had been cornered by those beasts, it did something to a child. He hated them. They deserved to be thrown into the recess of darkness, and never to return. Never to see the light of day. Though he doubted any would dare do such things. The Wen Clan seemed to really like those foul beasts. Probably because they were so utterly terrifying.
Okay, perhaps not such a horrible death, but he did hate them. Not just the Wen dogs, it was inevitable that his fear of dogs, in general, was cultivated from the terror which he felt from the Wen Dogs. He knew that others enjoyed their presence the furry softness of their fur, and to an objective point he could even see the use of them, after all, they were good hunters and very good at smelling things, but he hated them. The bloody things always used to chase him when he was living in the streets. Whether the furry creatures were Wen Dogs or just rabid dogs that had been ditched by their families and left to die on the streets. They were always, no matter how many times that he had tried to hide and keep himself from being found by them, they were always following him around, and raking him with their claws. It was not just painful, but terrifying, and he would prefer never to have to deal with that again. He hated dogs with a passion that would never dimish. Never to see one again. Now that he was here.
Now, though, he did not know. Wen Ning used to keep them all away from him whenever he did decide on the off chance to go into town, but he was not here anymore. Wei Ying was not sure where Wen Ning was, but Wei Ying doubted that the other would be able to enter the Cloud Recesses either. Though Wei Ying did not entirely know for certain what Wen Ning was, he knew that the other was not some common human. If he was even human at all, which was something that Wei Ying had long come to doubt soon after his first meeting with the man. He was just not some uncommon one either. Wen Ning definitely had humanistic characteristics, but he was just uncertain as to what exactly it was that Wen Ning was. He could not die, or so it seemed. All Wei Ying knew was that Wen Ning protected him quite well and that Wen Ning was the first friend that he had ever made.
"Are you certain about that?" Wei Ying asked curiously, voice trembling slightly.
"Yes," Lan Sizhui reassured him, his voice soft, rising and falling in a soothing tone. The reassurance which was most certainly needed because he was utterly terrified of the uncertain future which he now was held suspended in.
Though, it was not really his fault. After all, Lan Wangji had sort of technically kidnapped him. Was it Lan Wangji or just the disciples? Technically it could be neither of them, because of the fact that Lan XiChen was the one who told them they should go into the Cloud Recesses, so in a way, Wei Ying guessed it could be Lan XiChen's fault. Wei Ying figured it would have to be Lan Wangji because he was the one who gave the initial order to get him to follow them. Despite his desperate attempts at rushing away from him, and his fear of the man, Wei Ying decided that Lan Wangji was the one to blame, because while Lan XiChen had suggested he go, and Wei Ying had agreed, Lan Wangji had forced him to follow them, and that was a bit different from allowing himself to be taken. From them, in all reality. He was sort of uncertain about why in the world Lan Wangji would want him to enter the Cloud Recesses, it was utterly terrifying. He hated the thought that Lan Wangji could hold his future and could destroy it in mere seconds. He hated the thought of being near powerless.
That was what he was. Utterly powerless. Something which he desperately hated in all shapes and forms, and something which he had to now deal with. It was useless to try and fight it, he would be forced to return anyways. He could not go against Lan Wangji, the other was far stronger than himself.
Wei Ying sighed heavily. "But, I am worried. What if he tries something. I have heard of this Lan Qiren. He is something to be feared, what if he hates me? I am certain that he will, everyone hates me, or at least hates something about me. What if he throws me out? As much as I would like to think that it would not happen, it is a very real possibility."
"I doubt that he will hate you," Sizhui said, chuckling softly. "There is no worry. Nothing to fear."
"You say that now, but I am doubtful." he was, it was something which Wei Ying simply could not help. He was nervous about what could happen, and what would happen, and the events which had led him here to the Cloud Recesses would also be the events that forced him to leave.
