(Y/N POV)

Into the unknown.

"What's a watcher?"

I had set down the wrench, and stood across from the older man. He seemed like a pleasant person, but I couldn't trust him completely. Maybe I should pick up the wrench again, just in case.

"If I said I was an alien, would that scare you?" He asked.

"I suppose not, now that you've admitted it."

"I prefer the term extraterrestrial in all honesty," he explained, "but my purpose is to watch over the multiverses."

"Watch over?"

"Exactly. But you did something that caused me to watch over you. Only you."

"Only me?" I laughed, "what did I do?"

Stan cleared his throat, and adjusted the label on his janitors onesie. He didn't look anything like an alien, but in reality we're aliens ourselves to other beings.

"Are you familiar with the term, Prophecy."

"Of course, I've read about all types in the PRI manual. My dad made me study up."

"Do you remember the one you heard in the Quantum realm?"

"Which one? I've traveled three times, but I've only heard too."

"The first one."

I searched the deep crevices of my brain for the words I had heard that day. My memory seemed to have been scattered in that moment, and it was like I had never been.

"I-I can't remember."

"It's in your subconscious," Stan explained, "search harder."

"How am I supposed to get to my subconscious?"

"Going back into your memories. Relive the moment."

"Can't you just tell me the prophecy?"

"It's not mine to tell."

I groaned softly, and closed my eyes. It seemed impossible, but the man kept egging me on. What was it? What were the words I heard?

See you on the other side.

That's it! I've pinpointed the right moment in time, and I need to keep going from there.

Other side, stark.

Keep going, keep going. I need to make it to the realm.

Time is different in the realm.

That's the voice!

Do you exist in this world?

Come on, just get to the prophecy! This whole subconsious thing is making me exhausted.

However, things might be different here.

By saving one, you kill another.

Choose wisely.

No, please don't tell me that's it.

A feeling of dread washed over me, as I realized what was going to happen. I knew what Stan was going to say.

"By saving one, you kill another," I mumbled, "choose wisely."

"And it is that prophecy that messed with the timeline. That was not supposed to be your prophecy."

"It wasn't?"

"No, it wasn't. You're original timeline was entirely different then the one you're living now. You weren't supposed to save Peter. He was supposed to die."

"Then why did I do it? Isn't fate supposed to take control of me or something?"

"That's the problem. It didn't and I can't explain it."

I raised an eyebrow, my head spinning. I had no idea what was going on, and why it was revolving around me. How could I break fate?

"What was supposed to be my prophecy then?" I asked, "if this one wasn't supposed to be mine."

The man sighed, and picked up his duster. He began to dust the glass case again.

"If you want to know," he said, "you were supposed to die."
