I walked down stairs hoping that last night wasn't real; well at least half of it. I stepped over the last step falling on my face and landing with a thud.
I had tripped over an empty bottle of champagne that had Cry--stale written all over it. Literally. " Oh ma bad I forgot that was there." I heard her voice in the kitchen. Yeah 'forgot' if you asked me she left it there voluntarily to announce she was here to stay.
I walked towards the voice that led to the kitchen where Cry--stale was making a bowl of cereal and smoking a cigarette. " Morning." I sat down at the table drumming my fingers on its surface.
"Wassup?" she asked me. I shrugged my shoulders," Nothing I just fell on my face and I might have busted my lip how do you think I feel?" she frowned at my comment. But who gives a shit I was here first so I can say what ever the fuck I want.
" You have a job to go to?" She asked me taking a seat at the end of the table. Today she had on a low cut white U neck tank top and shorts that came up to her bikini line with a text that asked," Want it?" at the back, wearing blood red lipstick, thick mascara, and purple eyeshadow.
" No haven't been able to find one." I replied. This had been the truth; after all who wants to hire a girl with bruises and comes for an application smelling like weed from the lingering smoke in her house after one of her dad's parties.
She took a scoop of cereal out of her bowl and began chewing with her mouth open before speaking, " I might be able to hook you up." She pointed her spoon in my direction. "What kind of job?" I leaned forward in my seat out of curiosity. " It starts tonight it'll be fun me, whiskey, and you." She said waving her hand around as she did. Who the hell is whiskey? I was about to ask her this but dad came into the kitchen.
I watched as he tilted her chin up and exchanged soliva with her infront of me. That is so disgusting; I pushed my chair out not wanting to see more and started for the stairs.
" "Where you going?" I turned around and saw dad walking towards me. My face went blank and I know it did which is good for me. " Upstairs." I told him backing away a bit when he stood directly infront of me.
" Don't lie to me girl."
"I'm not lying!" My face remained blank. I saw his hand raise up. My heart began to beat faster when it came down in a movement of fury. The pain and force knocked me to the ground. Blood splattered from my mouth across the hard floor of the kitchen. He grabbed my hair tilting my chin up with a throbbing pain in my head following it. I felt a sharp object across my neck. His hot breath grazed across my ear, " If you go to the police again I'll kill you." with that he pushed my head down making it hit the hard floor. I got up to look at my little audience who I found smiling next to my da-- Clevis. He doesn't deserve to be called a father.
I reached my room and saw Destiny looking at me with a look that said "that bitch" which was directed towards Clevis. When she saw me she rushed to my side. " You okay?" she asked sitting me down on the bed. " I'm okay." I squeezed her hand to reassure her.
" This is some bullshit." She said looking out the window and into the distance. I thought the same thing ." Story of my life." I said smiling meakly looking in the same direction as her.
My phone buzzed on the chair by the door. I walked over to it feeling Destiny's eyes watching me I snatched it up quickly for god knows what.
Jarred: Meet me at the park in five. I texted him back.
Me: For what?
Jarred: Hang out.
Me: K be there.
