Yamaris:

At 7 o'clock my alarm blared Eminem's Lose Yourself and I just rolled over, smashing my hand against the buzzer before turning to face the morning sun shining through my window. Even on Saturday I was up bright and early to get my body right and study for my upcoming licensing test. It was going to be the next big step in my life and I was beyond ready.

So many people my age were still addicted to the fast lifestyle while I was trying to make enough money to retire at 50. The way I saw it, the earlier you got in the better. I was always making connections and gathering information. Always listening. You could blame it all on the nerd in me but it sure as hell came in handy.

My body ached as I rose out of bed and walked over to my bathroom to wash the sleep out of my eyes. Today was going to be busy for me just like every other Saturday. I'd let my laundry pile up and now I was paying for it. I also had dishes to wash and grocery shopping to do. More than likely Logan was going to want to hang out too. I was the only reason he decided to vacation in Bluemill anyway.

The last thing I wanted to do was fight with Logan while he was here but it was so hard to deal with his controlling nature at times. Of course I loved my brother and appreciated everything he did for me and was trying to do but sooner or later he was going to have to let me go and grow into my own woman.

Ever since we were kids Logan was always around me. Keeping the little boys away from me at recess and fighting everyone who looked at me when I got to high school. I was 5'5 with deep green eyes, flowing brown curls, and a nice physic. The milk chocolate skin I'd inherited from my father was always the topic of discussion. Underestimating the power of my own body back then got both me and Logan in trouble.

I should've known better but I was naive and didn't think much of guys who wanted to befriend me. My experiences with guys had been limited up until that point and I saw everyone as my friend. Logan saw right through everything and was ready to attack at any given moment.

There were a few times that I was grateful for him hovering over me. Like when we were both at a party and two guys tried taking me home with them. I was shitfaced drunk for the first time and could barely even walk. Logan caught them just as we were stumbling out of the house and gave them both royal beat downs. I was scared out of my mind when I realized what was going on.

After running three miles on the treadmill, I loaded up my washer and dryer a few times and tackled the kitchen while the laundry finished. I could cut the time and get out of the door faster if I multi-tasked. I'd just put the last dish back into the cupboard when there was a knock at the door. I dried my hands and pulled my hair into a sloppy bun before opening the door.

"I have a delivery for Miss Cameron. Please sign here." I grabbed the signing pad from him and signed with a smile, anxious to see what my new gift would be. I'd been hinting at a pair of Gucci heels for a while now and Charles always gave in to me.

To my surprise, he jogged out to his truck and brought back two floral arrangements filled with jasmine, plumeria, and purple orchids. All three were my favorites. I brought them both inside, placed them into fresh water, and put one vase in the dining room. The other went in the kitchen and sat in the middle of my island bar. My phone began to ring and it was a call from Logan.

"Hey big bro." I said with a ring in my voice as I primped the floral arrangement.

"Hey, do you like your flowers?" He said after a while. I could tell he was smoking something strong by the way he coughed.

"I love them! You must want something if you got me all of my favorites." The other side of the line was quiet except for Logan's inhaling and exhaling. "Oh God, you do want something. What is it?"
