Yamaris:
My stomach was filled with butterflies as Bunny and I waited outside of Logan's apartment. I decided to attend his Friendsgiving celebration at the last minute and kept it a secret. If I wanted to grow my personal life as much as my professional one, I had to put on my big girl pants and do things that made me uncomfortable. The look on Logan's face would be priceless when he saw me, as I remained adamant about staying home for the holidays.
"Oh my God!" Squealed Biyanca. She nearly jumped into my arms thirty-one week belly and all.
'It's nice to see you too, Biyanca." I hugged her as tightly as I could without smooshing the baby and stepped back so Bunny could greet her.
"You look beautiful, Biyanca. You've got the pregnancy glow and everything!" Bunny said.
"Thank you. I've been trying to stay stress free. Boys, I've got a surprise for you!"
Biyanca led us into her brightly lit home with windows that stood from floor to ceiling. The walls were painted gray with a light purple tint. The black laminate flooring was the perfect contrast against soft white furniture.
"Oh, shit! You said you weren't coming." Logan shot up from his seat and took me in his arms.
"I wanted it to be a surprise. Bunny did a great job of keeping it a secret for me."
Bunny was now grinning in Rich's face while I took a seat at the table. The rich smell of hot turkey and sugar ham permeated the room and made my stomach growl. Biyanca's dinner would be my first traditional Thanksgiving meal in years. I was ready to dig in.
"What's up, Yamaris? Over there looking all fine and shit." Julio slouched across the table and took a sip from his red solo cup.
"I expect nothing less from you, Julio. Things are just fine over here. How are you?"
"I've never been better. Oh, yeah. I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Ari."
Julio smiled and nodded in the direction behind me. A tall, voluptuous, caramel skinned beauty with black beach curls entered the room. She almost looked too good to be with someone so juvenile.
"Ari, this is Yamaris, Ghost's brother. Yamaris, this is Ari."
"It's nice to meet you." Ari smiled.
We shook hands and she shyly sat beside Julio.
"Julio never told me he had a lady waiting for him back home. We met when the crew vacationed in my hometown."
Ari laughed. "I'm hardly his lady. Julio and I have known each other for years. Besides, he's ugly anyway."
Julio sucked his teeth and sat up.
