So thirty minutes later they both leaned on the building in front of the school. Saguru and Kaito were talking about some stuff. Mainly what their interests are, but there came the point where Saguru was wanting to ask their relationship about his mother. It was an interrogation and the phantom thief knew.

"Strained I would say. At the age of 10, she left because of work-related stuff or that was what she told me. I never really was sure, but she did call me. I was not sure how to handle...it. After the death of my Dad, our relationship got distant and strained. I can't really be mad at her, I look really familiar to him after all."

A sigh escaped out of his mouth as his eyes dulled. It never would be the same. Now he wished he could have fixed that relationship with his mother, but now it was too late. She never would come back home, never would call and he never could fix this.

"I can't help, but still love her. She was still my mother, but I felt alone with these feelings. Aoko still had at least her father, and I felt left out. I never saw them really like a family."

Saguru was silent but had a troubled expression, and he guessed why because he asked something that was not really surprising to him.

"I want to know, would she consider doing suicide?  I know you two were distant, but you are the only one who I can ask. You don't need to answer when you don't want to."

Kaito folded his arms together and answered instantly.

"No, she wouldn't. When she came back a week before I knew something wasn't right. Something felt off, it was as she was trying to....say goodbye in her ways. She showered me with love. But it felt more like an act."

That was making Saguru frown as he felt an arm now around him, and he leaned into the touch. Now that he thought about it, that week felt strange.

"We will find them, and we will bring justice to your mother. My Mom is still alive, and when you need motherly love, I can ask her to visit me. I wouldn't mind it and you seem to need it."

That was making him go wide-eyed. Would Saguru go that far just for him? He stayed silent, unsure of what to say.

"I don't know...are you sure about this?"

His voice soft and fragile, and he hated it. But this was his real feeling and he didn't want to hide it from one of his critics. The other would have noticed it anyway and he knew how Kaito felt. Saguru squeezed his shoulder in a reassuring manner. It led to him have a small smile

"Of course. Do you mind that I tell my mother about you?"

Kaito blinked and was not sure about it, but Hakuba-san knew anyway one more person wasn't mattering to him. He was sure that the other would have mentioned it anyway sooner or later to the latter's mother.

"I don't mind. Just don't tell too much."

The other gave him a soft smile a nod soon afterward.

"Don't worry, and I have the feeling that she is soon coming here. Something about motherly instincts. Whenever I was hurt or feeling down, she called me or when I was hurt she flew from England to Japan."

That was making him feel jealous that the teen had a mother like this, but weirdly enough he felt happy for him as well.

"Wow, you're lucky that you have someone like that. I wished my mom would have been like that."

The other could hum as he could see how much appreciated his mother.

"It can be a bit much, but I know from cases how it can be. That is why I try my best to appreciate my mother and father. Both aren't always there, but they try their best."

With this both silent, until a phone rang, and Saguru chuckled when seeing who it was. One glance was enough to see that it was the mother of the blond.

"Hello, mother...I am doing alright...Fine worried about someone...Mom, yes, but I didn't stalk him...I told you before he was the main subject for being Kaito kid..."

Kaito could hear the infuriated tone in the other's voice as well a groan. This made him snort in amusement, as he whispered in his ear.

"You kind of did stalk me, Tantei-san.~"

There was a teasing yet chirping tone as the other groaned more and swatted him playfully.

"Fine...yes but someone lives with us...it is better you hear from the person itself...let me guess your motherly instinct made you decide to come over...not that wrong tho...but it doesn't have to do with me....yeah see you in a few hours then....bye mom love you too."

The phone call ended as the other let out a sigh and looked a bit amused.

"She will be home late evening. Be ready because she will know that something isn't right with you. Motherly instinct can be scary sometimes."

The other nodded wondering how he will react to this. He still wasn't that used to have someone there for him. He felt loved, but it felt weird. The arm left around him as soon as students walked out of school. Soon two familiar people walked out, one was Kudo and the other one made him go pale and another girl. The girl was someone who he had seen on his heist from time to time because of a particular old geezer.

"Oh god, not another Aoko. I can't handle another one..."

The other looked joyful but began to walk towards Kudo. Indigo eyes met Sapphire blue ones who looked surprised and concerned. He instantly rushed over and pulled the other in a hug.

"You two could have messaged me. So how are we doing today Kaito?"

There was a concerned yet soft tone in it. He hugged the other back, and as the hug was left he was a bit more relaxed.

"I am doing alright. Moved today to Saguru. You sure that I can call you Shinichi?"

The other gave him a sigh and looking at him with sharp eyes which made him feel fidgeting. Until the eyes soften.

"Yes, and don't worry about Ran. She isn't as forceful as your friend of yours. Not to mention that she wouldn't exploit that phobia against you. Oh, and there is as well Sonoko. Ran and she are best friends"

His body relaxed and giving the female a smile.

"Shinichi didn't know you had a friend who looked almost like you. Ran Mouri, nice to meet you...?"

"Wow, you look like twins are you related or something? Suzuki Sonoko nice to meet you as well."

The second girl said this and he opened his mouth but closed it again unsure how to react. There was as well a gleam which he wasn't liking too much. Both looked at him expectedly which made him feel a bit anxious, but he pushed it aside.

"Kuroba Kaito, nice to meet you Mouri-san and Suzuki-san."

He bowed politely as both of the girls as well, the next was Saguru who gave her a polite smile as well.

"Nice to meet you Mouri-san and Suzuki-san. Saguru Hakuba, I hope we can be friends."

"Of course, so you two seem to know Shinichi. He never had told me about you two."

Kaito shrank a bit as he hides behind Shinichi.

"I am sorry, Ran I just got friends with them. I will talk to you later. I promised both to go to the recently opened cafe."

That done the trick, as Ran grinned knowingly at Shinichi as well Sonoko, but Kaito didn't see it as he was still hiding behind him. They said their goodbye's and Kaito was relaxing more now. He stepped aside and looked a bit more relaxed. With this, they walked up to the cafe.
