It was the start of summer vacation and my family decided to spend half of the summer vacation in my grandma's cottage located in smoky town, While I was preparing my things my, father entered, "Sweetie, Are you prepared?" He asked me, "Uh, no, I still need to pack some other stuff," I said, "Oh, I see, let me help you, sweetheart," Dad said as he helped me pack my other stuff. A few minutes, I was finally done packing, "Thanks, Dad" I said.
"Happy to help sweetie," He said, "By the way, why are you here?" I asked him, "Well, there is something you really need to know," He said, "Do, tell?" I said, "I'm sorry to say this but you have to take the bus," Dad said, "What?" I asked, "I'm sorry but your mom and I can't take you," Dad said, "Why?" I asked, "Well, your mom and I, will have to pick your aunt Beverly and your uncle John, you do remember them right?" He asked,
"Of course, Auntie Beverly won't stop pinching my cheeks, how can I forget that?" I said, "Yeah since both of them and your cousins will come, we can't fit in the car, that's why I wanted you to take the bus and meet us in a motel near the smokey hill forest and we will both go to grandma's cottage, are you ok with that?" Dad asked me, "Yeah, I guess," I said, "Good, oh, I almost forgot, your mom wants me to give this to you," Dad said as he handed me a box, "What's this for?" I asked him, "Oh, it's an early birthday present from me and your mom, " Dad said, "We will be going now," Dad said as he kissed me on my cheeks and left.
'Man, this sucks, I was hoping that I get to ride with my parents, probably spend more time with them but I guess that won't happen' while I was in the middle of my thoughts the Doctor entered, "Do you have any books on quantum physics?" the Doctor said, "Uh, there's some of them on the top shelf there" I said, "Thank you, are you going somewhere?" the Doctor asked me, "Yeah, my family decided to spend half of my summer vacation in my grandma's cottage" I said, "Oh, how long are you planning to stay there?" He asked me, "I really don't know," I said.
"I see, why are you still here?" He asked, "I don't really feel like going anymore," I said. "What's the matter?" the Doctor asked, "Well, my father told me to take the bus," I said, "What's wrong with that?" He asked me, "Nothing is wrong with that but the problem is I really wanted us to go together but my stupid aunt and uncle will go with my family instead of me, how stupid is that?!" I said loudly, "I take it that you don't get along with your aunt and uncle," the Doctor said, "It's not that, I get along perfectly with them but it's just that I can't stand why my parents would leave me behind, do they hate me or something?" I asked, "No, of course not, they don't hate you, maybe there's a reason why you should take the bus?" the Doctor said.
"What reason would that be?" I asked him, "Maybe your parents wanted you to figure out how to get there on your own," the Doctor said, "Is that really the reason?" I believe so, yes" the Doctor said, "Really?" I asked him, the Doctor nodded and proceed on taking the book on the shelves, "You're right Doctor, I guess they want me to learn not to rely on them so much" I said, "Yes, here it is" the Doctor said, "What's that?" I asked him as I saw the Doctor took out a dusty old book, "It's a book on quantum physics" the Doctor said, "Really, But I can't read the writing, is it gibberish?" I asked.
"Of course not, it's old high Gallifreyan, the language that I can fully understand, you know it's quite an interesting book If I say so myself," the Doctor said, "Ah, I see," I said. the Doctor then sat on a chair and began reading, You know, I never really noticed it before but the Doctor is quite an odd one. Not in a bad way but good weird, I don't really know. "By the way, I noticed that there's a box on top of your spreadsheets there," the Doctor said, "Oh, it's an early birthday present from my parents," I said. "Really, what does it contain?" the Doctor asked me as he closed the book and went towards my direction.
"I don't really know," I said, "Well, let's open it shall we?" the Doctor said as he took out a pocket knife from his coat pocket and began opening it. It contains a new phone, some money, a well-knitted scarf and, a small heart-shaped box. "Wow, This is awesome," I said, "Well, that wasn't too bad," the Doctor said, Underneath those, I found a letter, I opened it,
"Happy Birthday, sweetie, I'm sorry if it isn't what you wanted but we wanted you to know that we love you so much, We really worked hard in purchasing this stuff, the scarf was knitted by your grandma before she moved away now I hope that scarf will come in handy in times of cold, there's a heart-shaped box in there as well I'm sure you'll like it, love mom and dad" the letter says, "Aww, thanks" I said as I try on the scarf, "Well, how do I look?" I asked the Doctor who was reading his book, "You look lovely my dear" the Doctor said. "Thank you," I said. I opened up the heart-shaped box, it contains a beautiful locket, inside the locket, is a picture of my family. "Now, isn't that nice?" the Doctor said, "Yes," I said as I tried to put the locket on.
"Here, let me help you," the Doctor said as he put the locket around my neck and returned to his chair and continued reading his book, "A perfect fit," I said, "It suits you perfectly well my dear" I heard the Doctor said, "What?" I asked, "Nevermind," the Doctor said, "I heard that Doctor," I said, "You're imagining things," the Doctor said, But I can tell that he was smiling from behind his book, "I saw that!" I said annoyed, "What on earth are you talking about?" the Doctor said, "You're smiling Doctor, I can tell," I said. "Of course not, my dear" the Doctor said. But I can still see that smile of his.
the Doctor then started laughing, "See?" I said, "I'm sorry my dear, but the necklace really does suit you," He said as he gently patted me on the head. "Don't you think, it's time for you to go to the station?" the Doctor said, "You're right if I'm late, I have to wait for an hour to get on another bus, Doctor, come with me?" I said, "Are you really sure?" the Doctor asked, "Yes, It'll be fun," I said as I grabbed his arm and went to the bus station, we boarded the bus and now on our way to grandma's cottage.
